Abstract

The financial literacy and inclusion of Indonesia remain low index, including the takeful awareness. This fact is noteworthy given that Indonesia is a Muslim-majority country and is a highly active user of social media.  This study aims to analyze the influence of Islamic financial literacy, religiosity, and social media on Indonesians’ intention to purchase takeful. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used to analyze the survey data to determine the roles of financial literacy level, social media, and religiosity in takeful purchase intentions. The study involved 149 respondents who intend to purchase takaful products and services in Greater Jakarta, Indonesia. The findings of this study empirically show that the intention to purchase takaful in Indonesia is likely initiated by the level of (islamic) financial literacy. Those who are familiar with takaful products and their benefits are more likely to purchase them. Moreover, the emotional appeal of the market remains a significant factor for Islamic products. Religiosity is a key factor in offering the takeful product to the public, while social media is identified as an effective channel for introducing these products and influencing individual purchasing intentions. This study suggests that the takeful industry and stakeholders must collaborate to intensify efforts to enhance Islamic financial literacy. While religiosity is a crucial element, the industry should also prioritize the value and benefit of takeful products. Furthermore, social media is also an important medium to introduce products and make the public engage with takeful products.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of digitalization of Zakat institutions on repeat donation decisions, considering the mediating roles of trust and satisfaction. The study employs the Stimulus-Organism-Response (SOR) framework approach, with the research method using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) to examine the direct and indirect effects of digitalization in Zakat Institutions on recurring donation decisions. The analysis results show that digitalization in Zakat Institutions (DLZ) has a significant direct impact on trust (TRS) and satisfaction (ST), which subsequently drive recurring donations (RPT). However, other variables, such as program quality (KPLZ), program popularity (PPLZ), and institutional reputation (RLZ), do not significantly influence trust or satisfaction, either directly or indirectly. The mediation effects reveal that DLZ significantly affects recurring donations through trust and satisfaction, while other variables do not have a significant influence. Future research is advised to broaden the sample scope, add variables related to program quality and donor loyalty, and employ a longitudinal approach to assess the long-term effects of digitalization on recurring donations

Discussion of findings was conducted by referencing the relevant research and other publications.Findings: The results show that stakeholders recognize municipal sukuk as a feasible instrument to finance halal tourism infrastructure. However, challenges remain, including the absence of specific local regulations, limited government assets, and insufficient technical capacity. Potential underlying assets include regional-owned hotels and tourist destinations, as well as tanah ulayat managed by nagari communities. Ijarah-based contracts, such as ijarah and ijarah maushufah fi al-zimmah, are identified as suitable structures for sukuk issuance.Practical Implication: The study provides policy insights for local governments and stakeholders in designing a regulatory and institutional framework for municipal sukuk, thereby enhancing sustainable halal tourism financing.Originality/Value: To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to explore municipal sukuk for halal tourism development in Indonesia. It contributes to the literature on Islamic public finance by offering a novel model of sukuk issuance at the municipal level, extending the discourse on Islamic capital market instruments for regional economic development.
