Abstract

An Investigation into EFL Students’ Experiences toward The Use Of MoodleTM and Its Implementation Challenges at Institut Parahikma Indonesia. The objectives of the research were to investigate the EFL Students’ experiences toward the use of MoodleTM features and to find out the challenges of Its implementation in Institut Parahikma Indonesia. The researcher applied the descriptive case study as the design in this research. Data obtained by the particular phenomenon is concerned with the experiences from the perspectives individually from interviews. There were 7 respondents consisting of 4 EFL students, 2 lecturers, and a high policy maker in Institut Parahikma Indonesia. They were chosen by their capability in understanding and utilizing MoodleTM. The results showed that the MoodleTM features in Institut Parahikma were up to date. However, the usage of It was only focused on task submission while there were many other features that were unused by the respondents. Furthermore, besides network issues still becoming an obstacle, lack of feedback in task submission made the students unable to evaluate their own abilities in learning. In addition, the result showed the challenges for Institut Parahikma in the future such as appreciation, technological literacy, and lack of Affective control for students. Abstract

atGPT, a state-of-the-art artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot which is intended to have natural, intuitive human-to-human conversations by employing cutting-edge machine learning algorithms to produce responses to text input that resemble those of a human, is altering the teaching process especially in English for specific purposes (ESP). It engages learners on multiple cognitive levels, reinforcing comprehension and retention of ESP concepts. However, as we embark on this transformative journey, the potential displacement of human educators is needed to be concerned since AI is able to take over the teacher roles. This paper provides a comprehensive exploration about the benefits and challenges from the disruption of ChatGPT toward teachers’ teaching practice, especially for teachers who deliver English material for certain professional purposes. The study employs library research method design to identify sources that offer accurate data or professional judgment regarding a research question; eventually, these sources are a prerequisite for all other research techniques. The research has clearly described not the benefits of involving ChatGPT in teaching and learning transformation but also the advantages to enhance teachers’ abilities in delivering ESP content. However, there are some disruptions which become a big challenge in this paper which needs to be concerned by teachers and students. Overall, the challenges of ChatGPT involvement in teaching ESP emphasized that even though ChatGPT is sophisticated enough to facilitate learning and teaching environment, teachers’ role is still irreplaceable.

Abstract

Nowadays, education is undergoing a significant transformation, particularly in teaching methods that increasingly integrate technology. The use of technology-based teaching media, such as game-based online quizzes, has become a trend, especially among university students. Although game-based online quizzes like Quizizz demonstrate significant benefits in enhancing learning motivation, evaluating students, and making learning more engaging, there are negative impacts in their application. This study aims to delve deeper into the psychological impacts of using Quizizz on students' learning motivation, focusing on exploring students' general experiences and the negative effects of using the game-based platform. Qualitatively, the study employed a phenomenological approach using semi-structured interviews with 20 respondents selected from four different study programs across three academic years (2021, 2022, 2023). The findings revealed a dominant impression among students that Quizizz is an enjoyable evaluation platform for learning, effectively strengthen teaching material, serves as a flexible learning medium, and provides immediate feedback during evaluations. However, on the other side, Quizizz fosters premature satisfaction among students, leads to inefficient teaching time due to internet connectivity issues, encourages guessing answers rather than understanding questions, decreases narrative and written communication skills if overused in evaluations, opens opportunities for digital cheating, and potentially demotivates students due to psychological factors such as feelings of embarrassment from publicized failures. This could result in self-labelling with internalized failure.

Abstract

This study explores the causes of students’ learning boredom in Akidah and Akhlak lessons and examines how teachers address it within a pesantren context. This qualitative descriptive case study was conducted at MA Pondok Pesantren Nurul Falah Borongganjeng. The study utilized two main types of data: (1) data concerning the factors that cause students’ boredom in learning Akidah and Akhlak, and (2) data describing the strategies employed by Akidah and Akhlak teachers to overcome such boredom. These data were obtained through interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis involving selected teachers and students. The analysis revealed five key sources of boredom: excessive workload, monotonous teaching routines, low learning motivation, limited classroom dynamics, and the absence of refreshing activities. In response, teachers applied a set of adaptive strategies such as brief icebreakers, segmented lectures, storytelling with prophetic models, rotating collaborative methods, and flexible classroom arrangements. These efforts effectively enhanced engagement by increasing students’ perceived value and sense of control, aligning with the principles of Control-Value Theory. The study contributes to Islamic education research by demonstrating that simple pedagogical adjustments rather than additional resources can meaningfully reduce learning fatigue and sustain motivation in faith-based subjects.
