Abstract

The use of computers and digital electronic devices has increased during the pandemic. This can be a risk of developing Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS). Hang Tuah University has a program to bring prospective doctors closer to the community during medical professional education, namely through community service in the form of counseling about CVS. Community service is carried out at Citra Medika Hospital Sidoarjo, aiming to provide knowledge to the general public to prevent CVS, and reduce CVS cases. The material provided includes an introduction to CVS and its prevention efforts. Twenty respondents who were patients in the waiting room of the Eye Polyclinic followed the counseling well. Respondents were previously given a questionnaire regarding CVS. Most (17 people) had a low level of knowledge about CVS. Respondents were quite enthusiastic in the question-and-answer session and through observation, knowledge about CVS increased. Extension programs about CVS can increase public knowledge about CVS.

Abstract

Background: Factors related to myopia are close-range activities, such as reading, writing, using computers and gadgets. Myopia is also related to the environment, namely spending time outdoors and genetic factors. Objective: The aim of this research was to show whether there is an influence between behavioral and genetic factors on the incidence of myopia in students at SMPN 2 Mojokerto City. Method: The research method used in this research is the Cross-Sectional Study analytical method, namely research to identify through observation using a questionnaire conducted online. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling. The number of samples in this study was 165 children. Data were analyzed univariately and bivariately using the Chi-Square statistical test via SPSS version 24. Results: The results of the study showed that all variables, namely length of use of devices (screen time) with p-value = 0.000, genetic factors of parents with p-value = 0.000, length of outdoor activities with p-value = 0.006, and length of sleep time with p-value = 0.000, showed a significant relationship to the incidence of myopia while position using a device with p-value = 0.239 does not show a significant relationship. Conclusion: It is hoped that the results of this research can provide education to children so that myopia does not increase by regulating the duration of use of devices/laptops (screen time) in a day for close activities, increasing the time for outdoor activities and the amount of sleep a day.

Abstract

The case of cardiac arrest that caused a young badminton player from China, Zhang Zhi Jie, to die on Sunday 30th April 2024, apparently has also been experienced by a number of world athletes. Sudden cardiac arrest is one of the main causes of death that can be prevented if appropriate treatment is given quickly. In Indonesia, general public knowledge regarding first aid for cardiac arrest, especially among high school students, is still limited. Training uses demonstration methods with posters and LCD monitors. Pre-test and post-test are used to asses knowledge to students of SMAN 1 Puri Mojokerto. The level of knowledge before and after education in the low category decreased from 36.1% to 6%. At the medium level of knowledge (41-70) this decreased from 48.2% to 30.1%. The level of good knowledge has increased from 15.7% to 63.9%.There was an increase in participants' knowledge as shown by the post test scores. It is important to carry out training regarding basic life support for teenagers who are high school level students so that they can carry out RJP actions which are part of providing basic life support properly and correctly.
