Abstrak: Kurangnya motivasi belajar sejarah disebabkan oleh kegiatan belajar mengajar masih berpusat pada guru, guru belum menggunakan model-model pembelajaran inovatif, siswa kurang tertarik terhadap media pembelajaran, dan metode pembelajaran yang digunakan tidak sesuai dengan kebutuhan peserta didik sehingga proses pembelajaran menjadi kurang efektif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan motivasi siswa pada mata pelajaran sejarah melalui model pembelajaran problem based learning pada kelas X Fase E di SMA Negeri 1 Batukliang tahun pelajaran 2023/2024. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas. Mulai dari pendekatan, pelaksanaan hingga pelaporan data, kegiatan penelitian tindakan kelas ini dilakukan sebanyak 2 siklus. Setiap siklus terdiri dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, obervasi dan refleksi. Pengumpulan data melaui observasi dan hasil penilaian pengetahuan. Penelitian dilaksanakan di kelas X fase E dengan jumlah siswa 36 orang pada materi kehidupan manusia di Indonesia pada masa praaksara. Berdasarkan hasil analisis pengetahuan siswa dalam menerapkan model pembelajaran problem based learning dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa, dimana motivasi belajar siswa pada siklus I rata-rata nilai peserta didik 80 dengan presentase ketuntasan 69,44% sedangkan siklus II mengalami peningkatan dilihat dari hasil belajar siswa rata-rata nilai 85 dengan presentase ketuntasan 97,2%. Sehingga penerapan model pembelajaran problem based learning dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa kelas X Fase E.Abstract: The lack of motivation to learn history is caused by teaching and learning activities that are still teacher-centered, teachers have not used innovative learning models, students are less interested in learning media, and the learning methods used are not to the needs of students so that the learning process becomes less effective. This study aims to increase student motivation in history subjects through a problem-based learning model in class X Phase E at SMA Negeri 1 Batukliang for the 2023/2024 academic year. The type of research used is classroom action research. Starting from approach, and implementation to data reporting, this class action research activity is carried out in as many as 2 cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, execution, observation, and reflection. Data collection through observation and knowledge assessment results. The research was carried out in class X phase E with a total of 36 students on the material of human life in Indonesia during the preliteracy period. Based on the results of the analysis of student knowledge in applying the problem-based learning model can increase student learning motivation, where student learning motivation in cycle I averaged 80 student scores with a percentage of completeness of 69.44% while cycle II experienced an increase seen from student learning outcomes with an average score of 85 with a percentage of completeness of 97.2%. So that the application of the problem-based learning model can increase the learning motivation of grade X Phase E students.
