Profile of Critical Thinking Skills of Chemistry Education Students in Solving Problems Related to the Concept of Mole Jenny Pratiwi; Rahmat Rasmawan*; Erlina Erlina; Eny Enawaty; Maria Ulfah

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are needed in solving problems because identitying problems requires an analytical thinking process based on clear data and reasons. The purpose of this study was to describe the critical thinking skills of chemistry education students class of 2020 in solving problems related to the mole concept. The type of research used in this study is descriptive quantitative. Subjects who participated voluntarily in this study were 38 people out of 49 chemistry education students class of 2020. Data collection techniques using measurement and direct communication. The research instrument used was adopted from the stoichiometry e-book developed by Rahmat Rasmawan in 2022 which has been validated by 10 validators with a score of 85 which means it is valid and can be used. The data analysis technique used was descriptive analysis. The results showed that critical thinking skills in the skilled category was 40%, while in the less and unskilled were 55% and 5% respectively. In each indicator, which are making assumptions is in the highly skilled criteria with 66%, making inductive thinking conclusions are in the skilled criteria with 84%, and interpreting information is in the unskilled criteria with 61%. The critical thinking skills of students in the 2020 chemistry education class are still in the unskilled category, this is due to the inhibiting factors, namely the online learning system and inappropriate learning methods

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of the process of empowering scientific literacy in constructing students' understanding of learning chemistry. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of developing Acid Base Multimedia (ABM) in chemistry learning to empower students' scientific literacy. This research uses research and development methods. It is used 4D models, with definition, design, develop, and deploy stages. The study involved participants consisting of teachers and students in class XI MIPA at SMA Santo Paulus Pontianak. Development of Acid-Base Multimedia design through expert appraisal from media, design, and material experts obtained a score of 4.86; 4.72; 4.51; with a very valid category. The stages of development testing, obtained an average response rate of 4.71, 4.54, and 4.24, respectively, with a very good category. The N-gain score is 0.6028, which means that the interpretation of the level of influence of increasing test results from learning to use Acid Base Multimedia is moderate. Testing the effectiveness of Acid-Base Multimedia with effect size obtained a value of 2.2 in the strong effect category. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that Acid Base Multimedia can empower scientific literacy effectively in constructing students' understanding of acid-base material

Abstract

Disiplin merupakan salah satu unsur penting dalam karakteristik pembelajaran kimia. Hal tersebut membuat guru membutuhkan informasi tentang kondisi kedisiplinan siswa sehingga dapat membantu guru dalam memberikan tindakan yang tepat untuk meningkatkan karakter disiplin siswa. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan kedisiplinan dalam pembelajaran kimia siswa MAN 1 Sintang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI MIA 1 MAN 1 Sintang. Prosedur pengumpulan data yaitu pertama peneliti memberikan angket kepada siswa kemudian hasilnya dianalisis dan disajikan dalam bentuk tabel dan diagram, kedua peneliti melakukan observasi dan wawancara sebagai triangulasi. Instrument penelitian yang digunakan adalah angket dan pedoman observasi. Angket menggunakan skala likert dan hasilnya analisis dalam bentuk persentase.Hasilnya siswa sudah menunjukkan sikap disiplin selama pembelajaran kimia. kategori disiplin siswa yaitu sebanyak 65% siswa masuk dalam kategori sangat kuat, 32% siswa masuk dalam kategori kuat dan 3% siswa masuk dalam kategori cukup.
