Abstract

Household waste remains a serious environmental issue, particularly in rural areas with low levels of waste management. Community education through health promotion media is needed to improve knowledge and attitudes toward household waste management. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of flipchart and leaflet media in improving community knowledge and attitudes regarding household waste management in Grajagan Village, Banyuwangi Regency. A quasi-experimental study with a pretest–posttest control group design was conducted. A total of 384 housewives were selected as respondents and divided into two groups, receiving education using flipchart and leaflet media, respectively. Data were analyzed using Paired Samples T-Test and Independent Samples T-Test. The results showed that both media significantly increased respondents’ knowledge and attitudes (p < 0.05); however, leaflet media was more effective than flipchart media, as indicated by higher gains in knowledge and attitude scores. Leaflet media is therefore recommended as an effective and practical educational tool for environmental health promotion.

Abstract

ABSTRACTSolid medical waste management is a crucial aspect of maintaining environmental safety and health in healthcare facilities. This study aims to analyze internal and external factors influencing the behavior of waste management staff (cleaning service) in solid medical waste management at Hospital X in Jember Regency. The study used an observational analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. The results showed that internal factors, including knowledge, attitudes, and self-efficacy, influence medical waste management behavior. All respondents (100%) had good knowledge and attitudes, but only 21% had high self-efficacy. Meanwhile, among external factors, only infrastructure significantly influenced solid medical waste management behavior, while the role of superiors and work roles did not show a significant relationship (p 0.05). The most dominant factors influencing solid medical waste management behavior were knowledge, attitudes, self-efficacy, and the availability of infrastructure. These findings emphasize the importance of regular outreach, facility support, and capacity building for staff in safe and effective medical waste management. Keywords: Solid Medical Waste, Officer Behavior, Knowledge, Self-Efficacy, Facilities and Infrastructure.

Abstract

The acceleration of industrial and economic growth, along with increasing population mobility, has contributed to the continuous expansion of business activities each year. This development pushes companies in Indonesia to advance toward industrialization, often resulting in extended working hours to meet production demands. Consequently, work fatigue has become a common issue in industrial environments, influenced by various factors, including external environmental conditions. This study aims to analyze the relationship between external environmental factors and work fatigue among production workers at PT X. The research employed an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The study involved 49 respondents from the erema production unit. Data were collected through interviews using the IFRC questionnaire to measure subjective fatigue levels, complemented by direct workplace observations. Bivariate analysis was conducted using binary logistic regression, while multivariate analysis employed ordinal logistic regression. The results indicated that environmental temperature and lighting significantly affected work fatigue, whereas working hours, workload, humidity, and noise showed no significant relationship. Among all variables, lighting was identified as the most dominant factor associated with work fatigue (p-value = 0.011; P < 0.05)
