Abstract

Improving the quality of education is one important point planned by Indonesian government. In order to achieve the good quality of education, Indonesian educational system has set the goal to be achieved; as written in Indonesian constitution number 20, year 2003. To achieve the national educational goals set by Indonesian government, curriculum should be arranged and formulated strategically into certain programs. In the process of developing a language curriculum, needs analysis take a big part in setting the result to be achieved by the learners. Needs analysis in language curriculum development is defined as the process of determining the needs for which a learner or group of learners requires a language and arranging the needs according to priorities. Needs analysis is normally required before syllabus can be developed for language teaching. The study attempts to investigate the role of needs analysis in a language curriculum design and materials development. It will also discuss about managing the needs analysis in classrooms and procedures for conducting needs analysis.

Abstract

Elena, an e-learning aid based on MOODLE version 2.0 developed by Universitas Negeri Semarang, is used to support the teaching and learning process as a response to the post COVID-19 outbreak. In English Education study program, Elena is mostly used not only for the lecturer to upload the materials, but also for the students to have discussion session, do assignment, exam, and quiz. However, as we shift from full online classes to ofline classes, it is important for all the parties and stakeholders to re-evaluate the use of Elena in teaching and learning process in post pandemic era, especially for students as the main user. A descriptive study was conducted by giving questionnaire and having in-depth interview to 100 students who participated. The results shows that students have positive perception towards the use of Elena in post-pandemic era to support the teaching and learning process, especially in learning language. However, some improvement such as make Elena into application rather than web-based learning aid, improve the user interface, and add live notification synchronized into students’ Telegram bot or MyUNNES should be considered.

Abstract

Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) is important for every company to pay attention to. Preventing work accidents can be done by knowing the existing risks, one of which is through the Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Control (HIRARC) method. Body Repair, Paint, and Welding Workshop "Family 99" is a small to medium-sized entrepreneurship that operates in car repair, paint, and welding services. The research aims to analyze the potential dangers found in the Body Repair, Paint and Welding Workshop "Family 99". Hazard identification was conducted in the workshop work area, with research respondents totaling three active workers. The data collection employed observation and interviews with a descriptive approach. According to the research results obtained from a total of 14 work stages analyzed, two stages had the highest risk value, namely the paint peeling stage with a risk value of 12, and the first, second, and third sanding stages with a risk value of 9. Controls that can be carried out to reduce risks include administrative controls and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for workers to work safely and comfortably.

Abstract

The limited preparedness of elementary school Physical Education (PE) teachers in managing injuries and emergency situations remains a significant challenge for ensuring student safety. This community service programme aimed to strengthen teachers’ competencies in injury prevention, emergency response, and school safety management through an integrated training and mentoring approach. The programme involved 33 PE teachers from the Physical Education Teachers’ Working Group (KKG PJOK) in Gunungpati Sub-district, Semarang, Indonesia. Activities included needs assessment, training on school safety management, injury prevention, first aid, Emergency Cardiac Care (ECC), cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), simulation-based practice, the development of school safety Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and the implementation of SIGAPEdu as a digital injury reporting system. Programme effectiveness was evaluated using pre-test and post-test assessments, practical performance observations, and monitoring of programme outputs. The results demonstrated substantial improvements in teachers’ knowledge and practical competencies. The mean knowledge score increased from 58.24 ± 9.17 in the pre-test to 86.73 ± 6.84 in the post-test, representing an overall improvement of 48.9%. The proportion of teachers capable of performing basic CPR increased from 12.1% to 84.8%, exceeding the programme target of 80%. Furthermore, school-based safety SOPs were developed and implemented, three safety-oriented PE teaching materials were produced, and SIGAPEdu was adopted by 72.7% of participants, surpassing the predetermined target. These outcomes indicate that the programme successfully strengthened teachers’ emergency preparedness, promoted the integration of safety principles into PE learning, and supported the development of data-driven school safety practices. Continuous implementation of similar programmes is recommended to foster safer and higher-quality learning environments in schools.
