Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to explore pathological or deviation behaviors found in the story of Moses and ‘Abd or Khidir in the Qur’an of surah al Kahf. More specifically, this study is projected to find the basis of all pathological behavior based on al-Jâbirî’s epistemology. To understand the behavior of deviation holistically, the researcher uses Peirce semiotics theory and then synergized with al-Jâbirî’s epistemology which includes bayânî, burhânî, and ‘irfânî's reason. Semiotics theory is used as an interpretation of verbal signs related to deviation behavior. Peirce's semiotics theory examines the sign of three points of view, namely representamen, object, and interpretation. The researcher employs qualitative method with the type of library research. The results of this study are: (1) the perforation of a ship is a situational deviation based on pseudo ‘irfânî reasoning, (2) child killing is a situational deviation based on a theological reason with pure ‘irfânî reason, (3) antipathy towards the guest is an organized deviation based on the violation of bayânî reasoning, (4) the prediction of the seizure of the ship by the king is a non situational deviation based on the violation of bayânî reasoning, and (5) plunging the elderly into apostasy and kufr is a non-situational deviation based on the violation of bayânî reasoning.

Abstract

This paper aims to descibe the relevance of the muzara'ah hadith and RKUHP which literally contain conflicting spirits. The author tries to find the rhetoric of traditions through historical search and formulates moral ideals that can be applied and contextualized to the present age. In conducting research, the author uses qualitative-descriptive literature research methods, with material objects of muzara'ah hadith and RKUHP criminal article 278. Melting the Hadith into a Sunnah does not mean practicing it through textual interpretation, it is necessary to have a historical study to find a retio legis (goal) and formulation of a moral ideal, so that the essence of the hadith can be applied and applied in contemporary times, (2) Muzara'ah hadith with RKUHP has a spirit or with the RKUHP the same essence that is motivating farmers to enthusiasm in farming as a retio legis, so that there is no contradiction between the two. (3) Moral ideal that can be applied to the current situation is an effort to strengthen the work ethic of farmers with pro-farmer government policies, both legally through the RKUHP, minimizing food imports or with more concrete policies, namely by providing plant seeds, seeds, fertilizer, and agricultural equipment free of charge for farmers. Keywords: Muzara’ah Hadith, Fazlur Rahman’s Hadith Hermeneutics, Moral Ideal, Retio Legis

Abstract

Discrimination and ill-treatment of animals are still ongoing today. In the Islamic world, this is allegedly the result of a non-holistic interpretation of religious texts. This paper aims to formulate a literature zoosemiotic interpretation method of the Qur'an and apply it to Surah al-Muddaṡṡir verses 50-51. The method is formulated to explore the meaning of animal verses in the Qur'an holistically and proportionally. There are two results of the research in this article. First, the steps of the literary zoosemiotics interpretation method refer to (1) determining the typology of animals in the Qur'an based on literary zoological themes, (2) outlining asbāb al-nuzūl micro-macro and makiyyah-madaniyyah letters. (3) conducting a study of munāsabah al-āyāt, intratextual, and intertextuality, (4) reviewing the results of previous mufasir interpretations, (5) describing the meaning of the word verse with semiotics and balāgah, and (6) efforts find zoosembiology (reciprocity) between the Qur'anic literature and zoology and conclude the relevance between animal literature and human life. Second, based on the new myth, the ḥumur ‘donkeys’ in Surah al-Muddaṡṡir verses 50-51 describes the fanaticism of the tribes and the degree of opposition of the Quraysh to the da'wah of the Prophet Muhammad, not the symbol of ignorance that exists in the old myth.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Purpose − This paper seeks to articulate the foundations and strategies for gender mainstreaming within Islamic education. This topic is urgent, as gender inequality in education continues to be a significant issue today. Furthermore, Islam is frequently viewed as contradictory to the principle of gender equality due to its textual interpretations of the Quran and hadith, which serve as primary sources for Muslims. Method − The researchers conducted a qualitative literature review of various texts related to Islamic education, aiming to gather insights from Muslim philosophers regarding the foundations of gender mainstreaming in education. Data collection involved techniques such as active listening and note-taking. The analysis of the data was carried out in three phases: reduction, presentation, and inductive conclusion Findings − Based on the analysis conducted, it is clear that Islam actively supports gender mainstreaming efforts in education to foster social justice and equality. Islam does not differentiate between men and women in terms of their opportunities to acquire knowledge and become exemplary individuals, or khalifatullah fi al-ardh (stewards of the earth). Muslim philosophers endorse gender equality in education both implicitly and explicitly, with no philosophers advocating for discrimination against either gender in the pursuit of quality education. To effectively implement gender mainstreaming in Islamic education, the following strategies should be adopted: (1) Emphasize the importance of allowing students the freedom to choose their fields of study. (2) Foster collaboration between the state and society—through influential organizations or figures—to advance gender mainstreaming in education. (3) Establish a school environment that is rooted in principles of gender equality. (4) Develop educational practices and school management that are sensitive and responsive to gender considerations. (5) Encourage the government, particularly the Ministry of Religious Affairs, to create model or pilot schools that exemplify gender equality and can serve as examples for replication. (6) Provide intensive training and seminars focused on gender issues for educators within both the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the layered meanings of the hijab within the Pendaki Hijabers community in Indonesia. The research seeks to explain how the hijab functions not only as a religious obligation but also as a cultural signifier of piety, agency, and resistance, making it important to understand its role in shaping Muslim women’s identity in unconventional public spaces. Using a qualitative approach, the study employed in-depth interviews, participant observations during mountain expeditions, and documentation of community campaigns. The data were analyzed through Roland Barthes’ theory of cultural semiotics to identify the denotative, connotative, and mythological meanings of the hijab. The results reveal three key layers of meaning. At the denotative level, the hijab serves as a sign of obedience and piety. At the connotative level, it becomes a symbol of freedom and inclusivity, challenging stereotypes of restriction. At the mythological level, the hijab embodies resistance and social transformation through activities such as daʿwah, the GEMAR (Gerakan Menutup Aurat) campaign, and community service. These findings contribute to religious and cultural studies by offering new insights into the relationship between faith, gender, and physical endurance. They also suggest practical implications for gender equality advocacy, daʿwah strategies, and the promotion of inclusive public spaces for women. The originality of this research lies in situating the hijab within the context of extreme outdoor activities—a domain rarely addressed in previous studies—and in demonstrating how religious symbols operate as dynamic cultural signifiers that bridge devotion, empowerment, and ideological resistance.
