Abstract

Swiftlet nest farming is a source of economic income for several regions in Indonesia, including Central Kalimantan. The constraint faced by swiftlet nest farmers is the use of a manual counting system by estimating the number of birds, which has a high error rate. This problem necessitates the design of a swiftlet counting system. This research aims to design and build an appropriate technology-based monitoring system. The technology required is one that can be used to monitor the number of swiftlets entering and leaving the swiftlet house in real time. The method used is the characterization and calibration of infrared sensors, then designing a sensor data design and acquisition system. The NodeMCU ESP8266 measures the number of objects using an infrared sensor displayed through a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) and Blynk. Data collection was carried out in six trials with variations in the number of objects passed through the sensor. The test results show an average error percentage of 3% and an accuracy value of 97.5% when throwing one object and an error value of 6% and an accuracy value of 94% when throwing one object. The measurement data is displayed on the LCD and sent to the Blynk application via a smartphone for remote monitoring.

Abstract

Table tennis requires a comprehensive mastery of basic techniques, with the backhand stroke often considered more complex than the forehand. A preliminary study of 55 college students showed that backhand proficiency (58.2%) was lower than that of the forehand (78.2%), with difficulties in accuracy, coordination, body position, and consistency. This systematic literature review (SLR) aims to identify, analyze, and evaluate effective training models for improving table tennis backhand skills among college students. Following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, a literature search was conducted in the Google Scholar, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Scopus databases for articles published between January 2020 and March 2026, yielding 18 articles from 847 identified records. The review identified six effective training models: (1) multi-ball drills, (2) partner drills, (3) goal-based training, (4) external attention-based training, (5) digital technology-based training, and (6) sports education models. The principle of analogy from other sports, such as volleyball and futsal, also supports the implementation of structured training and target-based patterns. A combined training model that integrates technical variations, immediate feedback, and structured repetition has been shown to provide optimal results for students. These findings provide evidence-based guidance for designing backhand training programs in higher education settings.

Abstract

Problems in coaching novice sepak takraw athletes at the university level often lie in the lack of structured and measurable basic technique training patterns, which results in weak fundamental mastery. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of applying systematic basic technique training patterns for sepak sila and sepak kura in improving the skills of novice athletes. The method used was a quasi-experiment with a one-group pretest-posttest design on 20 beginner athletes from the University of Palangka Raya. The research instrument was a validated skills test (Aiken's V validity > 0.80, reliability r > 0.85) to measure ball control, passing accuracy, defense, and attack. The structured training intervention was given for 6 weeks with a frequency of 3 times per week. The results of the paired sample t-test showed a significant increase in all skill aspects (p < 0.05), with an average score increase of between 16.2 and 17.2 points. The discussion relates these findings to motor learning theory, in which repetitive and gradual training strengthens motor memory and neuromuscular coordination. It is concluded that structured basic soccer and soccer training patterns are effective as a foundation for training beginner athletes.
