Abstract

This study was aimed at analyzing the effect of the PBL model with the JAS approach on students' scientific literacy skills in the excretory system materials. The study was conducted at SMA Negeri 2 Semarang in the second semester in the academic year of 2019/2020. The population of this research were the eleventh grade science students of SMA Negeri 2 Semarang in the academic year of 2019/2020. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling, in which the class used in this study was randomly chosen by the researcher. In this study, class of XI MIA 3 that consisted of 36 students selected as the control class while XI MIA 2 class with 36 students selected as the experimental class. The research design used on this study was Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The data in this study were in the forms of the results of tests of students' scientific literacy skills, observation of students' scientific competencies, the implementation of learning syntax, and students' responses to learning. Independent sample t-test results showed Sig. (2-tailed) < 0.05, it could be meant that there were differences in the ability of scientific literacy between the experimental class and control class after learning. The implementation of learning was equal to 92% that fell into high category. Based on the results of this research, it was able to be concluded that the Problem Based Learning model with the JAS approach affected the ability of students' scientific literacy in the excretion system materials.

Abstract

Nyeri haid (dismenore) adalah kondisi nyeri perut bagian bawah pada wanita yang sedang mengalami menstruasi. Dismenore umum dialami oleh remaja putri. Karena umumnya prevalensi nyeri ini, pencarian akan terapi alternatif dilakukan, yaitu dengan pemanfaatan aromaterapi yang salah satunya adalah aromaterapi lavender. Penelitian dilakukan untuk mengidentifikasi pengetahuan remaja putri di Kota Surabaya mengenai penggunaan aromaterapi lavender sebagai pereda nyeri haid. Instrumen berupa kuesioner yang memuat 24 pernyataan seputar haid dan pengobatan alternatif aromaterapi lavender. Teknik sampling yang digunakan adalah purposive sampling dengan kriteria inklusi remaja putri berusia 15-20 tahun dan sudah mengalami haid. Penelitian dilakukan di 3 SMA negeri, 3 SMA swasta dan 1 perguruan tinggi dengan jumlah total responden sebanyak 261 orang. Skoring dilakukan dengan memberikan nilai jawaban benar=1 dan salah=0. Responden dengan skor >12 (>50%) dikategorikan berpengetahuan baik dan skor ≤12 (≤50%) dikategorikan berpengetahuan kurang baik. Skor sebagian responden (88,5%) adalah >12 (baik) namun beberapa responden ini (11,5%) yang kurang mengetahui tentang cara penggunaan dan efek samping  dari aromaterapi lavender. Diperlukan edukasi terutama dalam hal aspek keamanan, penggunaan, dan mekanisme kerja aromaterapi sebagai alternatif penanganan nyeri haid pada remaja putri.

Abstract

Learning media play a crucial role in the success of the educational process. Without appropriate media, learning tends to become monotonous, relying solely on the teacher and lacking variety in resources. The integration of media significantly influences students' cognitive development. Observations and questionnaire distribution revealed learning challenges, where teachers predominantly used LKS (student worksheets), resulting in low student achievement in the topic of the human auditory system. Conversely, the potential analysis showed that all students owned smartphones. This research aimed to develop a valid and practical learning medium on the topic of the human auditory system using Smart Apps Creator. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) design using the Sugiyono model to evaluate the feasibility and practicality of the developed media. The study was conducted at SDN 14 Ampenan, involving 19 fifth-grade students. Instruments included validation questionnaires for material experts and media experts, as well as practicality questionnaires for student and teacher responses. The results showed: (1) material expert validation yielded a score of 83.3%, indicating a "very valid" qualification; (2) media expert validation reached 76.6%, indicating a "valid" qualification; (3) product trials by teachers and students resulted in scores of 87.64% and 87.5% respectively, classified as "very practical"; and (4) implementation trials scored 93.05% (teacher) and 95.2% (student), also categorised as "very practical." Based on these findings, the Smart Apps Creator-based learning media is considered feasible and effective for use in the classroom. The media is designed to be interactive, enabling students to actively engage in the learning process through features such as simulations, quizzes, and real-time feedback, thereby enhancing their understanding of the material.
