Abstract

Abstract

This study examines strategies for implementing halal certification for MSMEs in Doloksanggul, Humbang Hasundutan Regency, North Sumatra, where Muslims are a minority. Halal certification is vital for catering to Muslim consumers, but its adoption is low—only 0.5% of 288 culinary businesses are certified. Challenges include perceptions of unnecessary certification, limited information, and a lack of awareness about its economic benefits. Despite some government outreach improving awareness, more consistent education and collaboration are needed. The study recommends strategies that consider local cultural dynamics and emphasize enhancing infrastructure, access, and training to boost MSME competitiveness and market reach. Public interest statement: This study is significant for MSMEs in Doloksanggul as it raises awareness about halal certification in areas with minority Muslim populations. It enhances competitiveness, draws in Muslim customers, and offers suggestions for successful government initiatives, ultimately aiding local economic development and community well-being around the Lake Toba tourism area.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the practice of the profit-sharing system between boat owners and fishermen in Paluh Sibaji Village, Pantai Labu Subdistrict, from the perspective of Islamic economics. Data were collected through direct observation in the field, in-depth interviews with ship owners and crew members, and documentation. The results show that this practice is in line with the mudharabah contract in Islamic economics, where the ship owner acts as shahibul maal and the fishermen as mudharib. Key values such as justice, willingness (ridha), and deliberation have been applied in the profit-sharing process. However, the absence of a written contract may lead to conflict or uncertainty regarding the rights and obligations of the parties, especially in emergencies or work accidents. Therefore, written records are highly recommended as a form of rights protection and transparency, by the principles of maqashid sharia, especially in the aspects of protecting property (hifzh al-mal) and soul (hifzh al-nafs). Public Interest Statement: This research examines the fish catch sharing system between boat owners and fishermen in Paluh Sibaji Village, Pantai Labu Sub-district, highlighting its importance for coastal communities. Through the analysis of traditional, oral practices, it emphasizes the need for fairness, transparency, and the protection of fishermen's rights. The findings reveal the local economic dynamics and advocate for written documentation to prevent conflicts and enhance fishermen's welfare. Ultimately, this study aims to inform better fisheries policies and support just and sustainable Islamic economic principles. Note: Early View Version

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model on the use of the GoFood online food ordering platform and its impact on the performance of culinary Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Medan City. This study employs a quantitative approach using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method. The study sample consisted of 210 culinary MSME operators in Medan City, selected using probability sampling. Primary data were collected through the distribution of structured questionnaires and analyzed using SmartPLS 3 software. The results indicate that Performance Expectancy, Effort Expectancy, Social Influence, and Facilitating Conditions have a positive and significant effect on Behavioral Intention. Furthermore, Behavioral Intention and Facilitating Conditions have a positive and significant effect on Use Behavior, while Use Behavior has a positive and significant effect on SME performance. In addition, Facilitating Conditions also have a direct positive effect on SME performance. These findings indicate that the successful adoption of the GoFood platform by culinary MSMEs is influenced not only by perceived benefits, ease of use, and social influence but also by the availability of technological infrastructure and adequate facility support, which can enhance business performance. This study provides empirical evidence regarding the relevance of the UTAUT model in explaining the adoption of digital technology among culinary MSMEs amid the digital transformation.

Abstract

The growth of Islamic banking in Indonesia has encouraged the emergence of various ‎financing products with competitive advantages compared to conventional banking. ‎One such example is the Bank Pembiayaan Rakyat Syariah (BPRS) Al-Washliyah Medan, ‎which offers a wide range of products based on Islamic contractual principles (akad ‎syariah). This research stems from the need to understand the distinctive advantages of ‎Islamic financing products offered by the bank and to assess the factors influencing ‎customers’ preferences for specific products. The study employs a qualitative method ‎with a field research approach. Primary data were obtained through interviews with ‎BPRS Al-Washliyah Medan employees, while secondary data were collected from ‎supporting documents and relevant literature. The aim of this study is to analyze the ‎strengths of Islamic financing products at BPRS Al-Washliyah Medan—particularly ‎those based on contracts such as murabahah, mudharabah, musyarakah, ijarah, qardh, ‎salam, and istisna—and to explore the factors shaping customer preferences for these ‎products. The findings reveal that murabahah is the most preferred product due to its ‎installment certainty and simple procedures, while other products such as mudharabah ‎and musyarakah are perceived as more complex. Flexibility, transparency, and spiritual ‎value grounded in Islamic principles have been proven to enhance customer trust. The ‎contribution of this research lies in providing insights for Islamic banking practitioners ‎in developing product strategies and serving as an academic reference to strengthen ‎the literature on customer preferences for Islamic financing products at the local level.‎

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of inflation and the BI Rate on murabahah financing at Bank Syariah Indonesia. The data used in this study are secondary data obtained from the financial statements of Bank Syariah Indonesia, as well as macroeconomic data related to inflation and the BI Rate collected from Bank Indonesia through its official website. The results show that partially, inflation has a negative but not significant effect on murabahah financing. This indicates that an increase in inflation tends to reduce murabahah financing due to the decline in people's purchasing power; however, the effect is not statistically significant. Meanwhile, the BI Rate has a positive and significant effect on murabahah financing, indicating that changes in the BI Rate can influence the increase in the distribution of murabahah financing. Simultaneously, inflation and the BI Rate have a significant effect on murabahah financing. In addition, both variables have a relatively strong ability to explain the variation in murabahah financing, although there are still other factors outside the research model that also influence it.
