Abstract

Pencak Silat merupakan bagian dari kebudayaan bangsa Indonesia yang berkembang sejak berabad-abad yang lalu. Objek material dari penelitian ini adalah Pencak Silat dan objek formalnya adalah fenomena Pencak Silat sebagai seni dan media beladiri bagi pesinden era 70-an. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan eksistensi Pencak Silat yang berperan sebgai seni dan juga media bela diri bagi pesinden era 70-an. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan historis faktual. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah teknik analisis sintesis dan interpretasi terhadap data yang ditemukan dari berbagai literature dan hasil wawancara. Kesimpulannya, Pencak Silat hadir sebagai kesenian dibuktikan melalui beberapa tarian seperti dalam kesenian Ketuk Tilu yang mengadaptasi dari jurus-jurus Pencak Silat sebagai bentuk tarian. Ditemukan pula fakta, bahwa di daerah Sukabumi terdapat pesinden yang mahir Pencak Silat. Hal itu cukup menjadi alasan mengapa Ronggng harus belajar Pencak Silat selain sebagai pertunjukan seni juga sebagai perlindungan diri. ABSTRACT PENCAK SILAT AS A SELF-DEFENSE MEDIA FOR SINGERS IN THE 70S ERA, June 2023. Pencak Silat is part of the culture from the Indonesian which has developed centuries ago. The material object of this research is Pencak Silat and the formal object is the phenomenon of Pencak Silat as an art and a medium of self-defence for singers in the 70s era. This study aims to describe the existence of Pencak Silat which acts as an art and also a medium of self-defense for singers in the 70s era. The method used in this study is qualitative with a factual historical approach. The data collection technique used is the technique of analysis, synthesis and interpretation of the data found from various literature and interview results. In conclusion, Pencak Silat exists as an art form, proven through several dances, such as Ketuk Tilu, which adapts the moves of Pencak Silat as a form of dance. It was also found that in the Sukabumi area there are singers who are proficient in Pencak Silat. That was enough reason why Roggng or singer had to learn Pencak Silat not only as performance but also as self-protection. Keywords: Pencak Silat, Dance, Self Defense, Singer.

Abstract

Beluk from the Indigenous People of Kasepuhan Cicarucub are still maintained by the community based on their beliefs. The purpose of this research is to find out how the situation, events and functions of Beluk by the community in preserving their culture. In this study, the authors use the ethnographic theory of communication put forward by Dell Hymes. The method used in this research is qualitative with an ethnographic communication approach. Data collection techniques through interviews and document observation. To determine the informants used non-random sampling technique, namely purposive sampling. The data validity test technique used is the data triangulation technique which consists of interviews, observation and documentation. The data analysis technique used is to describe the findings in detail from the interpretation results, then draw conclusions on the research results obtained. The conclusion is that Beluk art has a purpose for education, morals and manners. The function of outs and outs in the traditional Kasepuhan Cicarucub community is a religious function, a social function and an entertainment function. Abstract

MnB Music adalah penyedia jasa session band yang berkembang setelah mengikuti program inkubasi bisnis di Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. Program ini membantu mereka menghadapi tantangan operasional, pertumbuhan klien, dan adaptasi teknologi digital di industri musik. Penelitian ini mengevaluasi dampak program inkubasi terhadap pengelolaan bisnis MnB Music, khususnya dalam memastikan keberlanjutan dan daya saing di pasar musik independen. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode gabungan kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Data dikumpulkan melalui analisis indikator kinerja bisnis dan wawancara dengan MnB Music serta pengguna jasa mereka. MnB Music berhasil meningkatkan jumlah klien, kualitas layanan, dan memanfaatkan media sosial untuk memperluas pasar. Program inkubasi juga mendukung diversifikasi layanan dan penguatan branding. Program inkubasi berperan penting dalam membangun bisnis kreatif yang berkelanjutan di sektor musik independen. Temuan ini memberikan wawasan strategis bagi pelaku bisnis dan penyelenggara program inkubasi untuk meningkatkan daya saing melalui inovasi dan adaptasi digital

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan studi interpretatif yang mengkaji proses kreatif Yadi Piteuk dalam mengaransemen lagu Jempling Peuting karya Ubun Kubarsah, yang sebelumnya hadir dalam dua versi tradisional, yaitu kliningan (2002) dan celempungan (2010). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap tahapan proses kreatif yang dilalui, mengidentifikasi unsur-unsur musikal yang diolah, serta mendeskripsikan bentuk hasil akhir aransemennya. Latar belakang penelitian didasarkan pada kebutuhan menghadirkan inovasi dalam musik tradisional Sunda agar tetap relevan di era modern tanpa menghilangkan identitas budayanya. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus, melalui wawancara mendalam dan studi dokumentasi yang dianalisis secara deskriptif dengan triangulasi sumber. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proses kreatif Yadi Piteuk mencakup tahap persiapan, inkubasi, iluminasi, dan verifikasi, dengan perubahan menonjol pada tempo awal lagu, penerapan harmoni berbasis scoring yang lebih fleksibel, serta modifikasi tekstur instrumen melodis menjadi fill-in untuk memperkuat dominasi vokal. Hasil akhir menunjukkan bahwa inovasi tersebut berhasil menciptakan nuansa musikal yang segar, menarik minat generasi muda, dan tetap mempertahankan karakter khas musik Sunda. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi dalam kajian musikologi, khususnya sebagai referensi pengembangan aransemen musik tradisi secara kreatif dan kontekstual.

Abstract

This study investigates the richness of vocal ornamentation in the lagu gedé repertoire through a focused case study of Sundanese pesinden Nunung Nurmalasari’s performance of “Sungsang.” Within Sundanese vocal tradition, ornamentation constitutes a central expressive mechanism through which musical identity, stylistic continuity, and interpretative creativity are articulated. Employing a qualitative case study approach, the research analyzes audiovisual recordings sourced from the official Nunung Nurmalasari Official YouTube channel, supported by numeric transcription, document analysis, and interview data. Content analysis is applied to identify, categorize, and interpret ornamentation techniques in relation to melodic structure, laras, surupan, and formal design. The findings reveal eleven distinct vocal ornamentation techniques: eluk tungtung, geregel, ombak, galasar, golosor, leotan, besot, eur-eur, gedag, dorong, and beulit systematically integrated throughout the performance. These ornaments function not merely as melodic embellishments but as structural and expressive devices that shape phrasing, reinforce modal modulation, and preserve lyrical clarity amid dense melodic decoration. Several techniques emerge as stylistic hallmarks, reflecting Nurmalasari’s distinctive vocal identity and deep mastery of Sundanese singing practice. The study concludes that vocal ornamentation in “Sungsang” operates as a coherent expressive system embedded within lagu gedé aesthetics. Its findings contribute to musicological and ethnomusicological discourse on kepesindenan and offer pedagogical value for Sundanese vocal education. Future research is encouraged to extend comparative analysis across performers and repertoires to further elucidate stylistic diversity in Sundanese vocal traditions.
