Abstract

This study is based on the fact that there are many problems of sexual violence against women in Indonesia in general, and in Ambon city in particular. The list of female violence in Indonesia is increasing significantly every year, both published and unpublished because of the hidden culture. This study aims to reveal the data of sexual violence occurring in urban communities, particularly Ambon, Desa Passo, and to find out the tragic stories experienced by victims, and to describe a transformative pastoral approach that can be conducted by the church to assist victims, as well as make awareness  the perpetrators of the violence against women, which is not in accordance to the will of God. The study uses qualitative research methods and interview techniques as a means of gathering information/data to achieve research objectives. This study found that cases of violence against women tended to increase, and victims often silenced the case because of the culture of shame (hidden culture) to hide cases of violence in order not to be known by others. It is also the reason how the difficulty for law enforcement to the crime. Therefore, it needs a transformative pastoral approach to free the victims from the hidden culture and affirming the existence of the victim so that they can be healed from a prolonged traumatic experience.

Abstract

Judges 16:1 – 22 prominently present a dynamic power relationship between the characters in the particular narrative of Samson, Delilah, the Philistines, and YHWH. This article aims to explore a number of tendentious and dynamic power relations in this text using the method of interpreting narrative criticism. From the perspective of narrative criticism, the text of Judges 16:1-22 was a dramatic story between Samson and Delilah that was interpretable. This text elaborated every element of the story, whether plot, setting, time and character, into a dramatic and meaningful narrative. The interpretation of this text was studied by searching gaps in the story as well as between actors and bridging them with discursive studies. Because sometimes the interpreter ignored the gap in the narrative as an important part of the narrative interpretation. If the story gap was interpreted critically, it produces and constructs powerful theological values. The identification of this story gap was initiated by conducting a structural analysis of the text. The results of this exegesis would be able to form a theological value formulation that had relevance in the current context. The author tried to dialogue the theological values in the narrative of Judges 16:1-22 with contextual realities in Indonesia.

Abstract

Tujuan artikel ini untuk membuat sosialiasi gerakan anti kekerasan dalam pacaran di Angkatan Muda Gereja Protestan Maluku Cabang Damai di Jemaat Gereja Protestan Maluku Waai. Sosialisasi berbasis kajian teologis dan psikologis-pastoral. Secara faktual, salah satu masalah sosial yang muncul dalam komunitas persekutuan Angakatan Muda Cabang Damai adalah isu kekerasan dalam pacaran. Masalah ini muncul dan terindikasi dengan adanya kasus kekerasan dalam pacaran yang terjadi tahun 2018 (8 kasus) sampai sekarang. Kasus ini muncul umumnya secara tersembunyi karena dipengaruhi budaya malu. Ada perempuan yang mengalami kasus kekerasan tetapi mendiamkan karena merasa malu dan menganggap hal ini sebagai ekspresi cinta dan kesetiaan kepada pasangan. Tindakan kekerasan dianggap lumrah. Tindakan ini meningkat karena terbatasnya pengetahuan komunitas Angkatan Muda GPM Damai tentang bentuk kekerasan dan cara penanganannya. Terkait permasalahan ini diajukan solusi penyelesaian dalam bentuk, yaitu: pertama, sosialisasi secara mutli disipliner tentang isu kekerasan dalam pacaran khusus di bidang teologi dan pastoral. Kedua, mentransformasi pemahaman dan melakukan pendampingan pelayanan serta langkah preventif kekerasan dalam pacaran. Kegiatan diharapkan memutuskan mata rantai kekerasan dalam pacaran.

Abstract

The problem of street children is not only a condition that has only recently occurred but is a situation that has been going on for quite a long time, even since the Bible was written. Children are used as property for economic and socio-political purposes. Even children who do not make a good contribution to the family are often subjected to immoral actions, such as being thrown onto the street, sold as slaves to pay off family debts, or even killed. One of the Bible texts, especially the Old Testament (PL), that shows this reality is the text Amos 5:1–17 because it contains the injustice experienced by marginalized people, especially street children. This article aims to carry out an interpretation using ideology, criticism, and the perspective of marginalized people. The findings highlight the issue of child injustice and offer a pro-life viewpoint that honors the worth of children. The findings are discussed starting from conducting ideological criticism of Amos's text, exposing the reality of street children, to showing prophetic criticism that provides new energy in overcoming social problems from the reality of street children.

Abstract

This article delves into the unique role of music as a therapeutic tool in ancient Israel, with a focus on the biblical account of music therapy healing Saul (1 Samuel 16:14-23). This study attempts to explore and question the relationship between music, healing, and religion. This study aims to: first, to interpret the text of 1 Samuel 16:14-23 which introduces the significance of music in the ancient Israelite tradition. Second, to emphasizes the function of music as healing therapy, where David uses the lyre to heal Saul. This text subtly demonstrates the prevalence of the healing practice of music in the biblical world. Third, it investigates narrative interpretive methods that discuss the extent to which Israel, through David, defines himself and how the superiority of music helps shape Israel’s self-perception as a musical community. Data was collected through literature studies/scientific literature related to the title of this study. The results of the data collection will then be processed and presented in the form of a description.

Abstract

The study aims at interpreting Galatians 3:28 from a feminist perspective with relevance in a contemporary context. This study was conducted for some reasons, namely: first, Galatians 3:28 has become the center of controversy, in recent years this text has become increasingly popular from a feminist perspective. In comparison with 1 Corinthians 12:13 and Col.3:11 which record the same idea, this text is considered positive for women and becomes the climax of the biblical statement about gender equality. Second, this text is unique and complex to interpret because it frames the baptismal formula for the new Christianity. Third, Galatians 3:28 is the text that underlies the message of liberation for women in the New Testament. This text forms the basis of fundamental Pauline theology which teaches a spirituality of equality between men and women of all racial and ethnic groups, economic classes, and age groups. This text uses a feminist hermeneutic method, which provides space for women's and men's participation as equal and mutual partners, both privately and publicly. The results of the research show several things, namely: first, Galatians 3:28 is an important verse against equality. Second, this text presents the theological consequences of the legitimacy of the New Testament for universal spiritual equality. Third, this text ensures equal spiritual status and opportunities in leadership for all. In essence, this text is based on equality that has an impact and is relevant to the work of liberation for women.AbstrakStudi bertujuan menafsirkan Galatia 3:28 dari perspektif feminis merelevansikan dalam konteks kontemporer. Studi ini dilakukan dilatari beberapa alasan, yaitu: pertama, Galatia 3:28 menjadi pusat kontroversi, dalam beberapa tahun terakhir maraknya teks ini dari perspektif kaum feminis. Dalam komparasi dengan teks 1 Korintus 12:13 dan Kol.3:11 yang mencatat ide sama, teks ini dianggap positif bagi perempuan dan menjadi klimaks pernyataan alkitabiah tentang kesetaraan gender. Kedua, teks ini unik dan kompleks ditafsirkan karena dibingkai formula pembaptisan untuk Kekristenan baru. Ketiga, Galatia 3:28 merupakan teks yang mendasari pesan pembebasan bagi perempuan dalam Perjanjian Baru. Teks ini menjadi dasar teologi fundamental Pauline yang mengajarkan spiritualitas kesetaraan antara laki-laki dan perempuan dari semua kelompok ras dan etnis, semua kelas ekonomi, dan semua kelompok umur. Teks ini memakai metode hermeneutik feminis, yang memberi ruang partisipasi perempuan dan laki-laki sebagai mitra setara dan mutual secara privat maupun publik. Hasil penelitian menujukkan beberapa hal, yaitu: pertama, Galatia 3:28 adalah ayat penting yang menentang kesetaraan. Kedua, teks ini menyajikan konsekuensi teologis dari legitimasi Perjanjian Baru untuk kesetaraan spiritual universal. Ketiga, teks ini mengafirmasi status spiritual, kesempatan dan kepemimpinan yang sama untuk semua. Intinya, teks ini didasarkan pada kesetaraan yang berdampak dan relevan dengan karya pembebasan bagi perempuan

Abstract

Tujuan artikel ini untuk membuat sosialiasi gerakan anti aborsi di Angkatan Muda Gereja Protestan Maluku Ranting Negeri Lama dan Ranting FIRAT di Jemaat Gereja Protestan Maluku Negeri Lama. Sosialisasi berbasis kajian teologis dan teologi - pastoral. Secara faktual, salah satu masalah sosial yang muncul dalam komunitas persekutuan Angakatan Muda Ranting Negeri Lama dan Ranting FIRAT adalah isu aborsi dalam pacaran. Masalah ini muncul dan terindikasi dengan adanya kasus kekerasan dalam pacaran yang terjadi tahun 2008. Kasus ini bisanya tidak muncul dipermukaan tetapi cenderung tersembunyi karena dipengaruhi budaya malu. Ada perempuan yang melakukan aborsi tetapi mendiamkan karena merasa malu. Tindakan ini bisa meningkat karena terbatasnya pengetahuan komunitas Angkatan Muda GPM Ranting Negeri Lama dan Ranting FIRAT tentang aborsi, bentuk, penyebab, dampak dan cara penanganannya. Terkait permasalahan ini diajukan solusi penyelesaian dalam bentuk, yaitu: pertama, sosialisasi secara mutli disipliner tentang isu kekerasan dalam pacaran khusus di bidang teologi dan pastoral. Kedua, mentransformasi pemahaman dan melakukan pendampingan pelayanan serta langkah preventif kekerasan dalam pacarana dan aborsi. Kegiatan diharapkan memutuskan mata rantai aborsi di kalangan anak muda dalam pacaran.
