Abstract

The rapid development of information and communication technology has transformed recruitment practices, with social media emerging as an essential platform for building professional identity and attracting recruiters’ attention. However, many vocational high school students still lack an understanding of how social media can be utilized for career development. This community service program aimed to enhance the understanding and skills of students at SMK Budi Asih Jakarta in developing personal branding on social media as a strategy to improve work readiness. The program employed a face-to-face training method using a participatory approach, including material presentations, interactive discussions, hands-on practice in developing professional profiles, and evaluation through pre-test and post-test assessments. Training materials covered fundamental concepts of personal branding, digital communication strategies, professional social media profile management, and the use of visual content to strengthen professional self-image. The results indicated a significant improvement in participants’ understanding of personal branding, their ability to manage professional digital identities, and increased confidence in presenting their potential in digital environments. The training contributed positively to students’ readiness to face the modern workforce, which increasingly requires digital competencies and strong professional self-presentation. This program is expected to serve as a sustainable model for developing digital competencies among vocational high school students.

Abstract

In the field of education, principals play an important role in creating a conducive working environment for teachers. This study aims to analyze the leadership communication strategies employed by the principal in improving teachers’ work motivation at SMK Budi Asih Jakarta. This research used a qualitative descriptive approach with data collected through in-depth interviews with the principal as the main informant. The findings reveal that the principal applies interpersonal, situational, formal, and informal communication strategies to foster teachers’ work motivation. Family-oriented communication, coaching, emotional support, and task delegation adjusted to teachers’ conditions emerged as the primary approaches in creating a positive working environment. Guided by Situational Leadership Theory, the study identifies the implementation of directing, coaching, supporting, and delegating leadership dimensions in the principal’s communication practices. The novelty of this study lies in its exploration of leadership communication strategies within the context of a vocational school through the lens of situational leadership. The findings provide practical insights for educational leaders in developing adaptive communication strategies to enhance teachers’ motivation and strengthen a positive organizational climate in schools.

Abstract

The Issue and Crisis Management Training conducted for village government officials in Eureunpalay Village, Cibalong Subdistrict, Tasikmalaya, aimed to enhance effective communication skills in handling crisis situations. The training was attended by 20 participants, consisting of village apparatus and local community leaders. The initiative was motivated by the lack of understanding and practical skills among village officials in managing various issues and crises that may arise within the community, including natural disasters, social conflicts, and other emergency situations. Data collection methods included direct observation and open-ended interviews with participants to assess the development of their capacities throughout the training. The indicators of program success comprised: (1) increased participants' understanding of crisis communication techniques; (2) improved ability to apply vocal control, body language, and eye contact when speaking publicly; and (3) enhanced confidence in conveying messages during emergencies. The training outcomes showed a significant improvement in participants’ preparedness to face crisis situations, both in terms of technical communication skills and psychological readiness under pressure. The implications of these outcomes suggest that such training programs are a critical strategy in strengthening the capacity of village government officials, particularly in building effective communication during crises. Therefore, this initiative is recommended to be continued and scaled up to other villages as part of a broader effort to enhance local governance resilience.
