Abstract

The use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in primary health laboratories is a crucial step in mitigating the risks of exposure to biological, chemical, and physical hazards that may endanger laboratory personnel. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of PPE in reducing occupational risks and to identify factors influencing the compliance levels of laboratory staff with safety standards. The methodology employed is a systematic literature review, analyzing various scientific articles, research reports, and credible sources from 2019 to 2024. The findings indicate that compliance levels with PPE usage remain variable, influenced by several factors, including the availability of PPE, understanding of the importance of occupational safety, and user comfort. Several challenges encountered include discomfort during use, a lack of awareness among laboratory personnel, and resource limitations in primary health facilities such as community health centers. Therefore, there is a need to strengthen occupational safety policies through the provision of ergonomic PPE, enhancement of education and training for laboratory personnel, and stricter supervision of safety protocol implementation. By taking these measures, the effectiveness of PPE usage can be improved, thereby creating a safer work environment and supporting the health of laboratory personnel.

Abstract

The counseling and training activities carried out at the Montasik Health Center aim to increase insight and knowledge about the use of herbal plants in an effort to reduce stunting cases in the Montasik Health Center work area which can improve public health. Community service activities carried out by lecturers and students are a "community partnership empowerment" program granted by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education. Stunting cases in the Montasik Health Center work area are very high (261 stunting, 144 wasting, and 348 underweight children). Based on this, an intervention model is needed that can be applied by officers at the Montasik Health Center to mothers who have toddlers in preventing new stunting cases and increasing insight to increase the use of Moringa leaves as a source of high nutrition as a food additive for toddlers and children. The intervention model provided includes five food menus that are liked by toddlers and children, namely moringa meatballs, moringa ice cream, moringa nuggets, moringa noodles, moringa cookies. The results of this community service are expected to contribute to Montasik Health Center officers to implement a food menu intervention model with the addition of Moringa leaf flour to meet the nutritional needs of toddlers and children so that in the long term it can reduce stunting cases.

Abstract

COVID-19 is a respiratory disease that poses a current threat. Public non-compliance with health protocols can negatively impact COVID-19 transmission. A person's behavior significantly impacts their health. The design of this research is quantitative descriptive with Cross Sectional design, the population in the study is all productive-age Banda Aceh residents totaling 252,899 people and the sample in this study totaling 399 people who have met the inclusion criteria with Accidental Sampling technique using statistical analysis of the t-test (paired-samples t test) and One Way Anova Repeated Measure Test using the Stata 14 program. The results of the study show that there are significant changes in community behavior after 2 years of the Covid-19 pandemic for 3 time periods (the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic (2020), 1 year ago (2021) and currently (2022)) related to the 5M Health Protocol (p-value 0.0000), Barriers to Mask Use (p-value 0.0000), Information Related to Handling Covid-19 (p-value 0.0001), Perception (p-value 0.0000), Attitude (p-value 0.0000, and Behavior Towards Covid-19 (p-value 0.0000). However, the t-test results showed no significant change in community behavior in the Attitude variable between 1 year ago (2021) and now (2022) (p-value 0.8997) and in the Information Regarding Handling of Covid-19 variable between the beginning of the pandemic (2020) and now (2022) (p-value 0.3048). The most dominant change in community behavior after 2 years of the Covid-19 pandemic was in the 5M Health Protocol variable, in the period 1 year ago (2021) and now (2022), with a p-value of 0.0000 and a difference of 3.24. It is hoped that the community will continue to strive to improve their health behavior, so that the level of public health is maintained, and hopefully we are truly free from the Covid-19 pandemic
