Abstract

Faith-based schools utilize social media as a new public space to promote their Islamic identity. This research focuses on the competition between three faith-based schools in Indonesia, as depicted through their digital content on social media platforms. This research observes the social media accounts of educational institutions that are the object of research. This study uses a qualitative method. The research design follows the qualitative content analysis framework developed by Bengtsson. Data collection was obtained from in-depth interviews and documentation. The analysis technique used is content analysis. The validity of the data was triangulated. This research has significant findings that the three Islamic educational institutions investigated proactively compete to articulate the meaning of Islam according to their ideological affiliation, including concepts, content, activities and identity of educational approaches. The implications of this competition are significant because it encourages healthy competition in promoting educational ideology and categorizing Islam based on ideological affiliation. In addition, this research opens the way to a deeper understanding of the diversity of Islamic interpretations and practices in society.

Abstract

Cet article vise à décrire la traduction de la terminologie commerciale lors du Sommet des ministres du Commerce du G20 à Bali en 2022. Le G20 est un forum de coopération internationale composé de 19 principaux pays et de l'Union européenne (UE). L'une des professions valorisées lors de cette conférence de haut niveau est la profession de traducteur. Le traducteur doit être capable de traduire la terminologie commerciale utilisée lors de la réunion du G20 afin que ce qui est traduit soit conforme aux objectifs de communication. Cette recherche utilise une méthode descriptive qualitative utilisant la théorie de la traduction de Nida et Taber (1982). Les sources des données ont été obtenues à partir de la langue parlée obtenue lors de la participation au sommet des ministères du Commerce du G20 et sur le site officiel du G20 en français. Les résultats de la recherche montrent que la terminologie trouvée dans les données montre que la terminologie commerciale trouvée peut prendre la forme d'abréviations, d'acronymes et de lexiques commerciaux. Les termes les plus courants et fréquemment utilisés sont le lexique relatif aux noms des pays du G20, la devise du G20, les abréviations des organisations commerciales internationales, les positions/professions, les pronoms de salutation, les verbes et adverbes.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the lack of ethnolinguistic studies exploring ritual language's role in traditional community character education. The purpose of the study is to analyse the verbal symbolism in ritual language and how the language is used as an informal educational tool. This study used a qualitative approach with ethnolinguistic methods. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with elders and ritual performers, participatory observation, and document study related to the oral tradition of the Dawan community. Data analysis was conducted using thematic and semiotic analysis to identify patterns of ritual language use. The findings show that ritual language in Korolele plays an important role in transmitting cultural values, such as solidarity, respect, and communal responsibility, to the younger generation. Language is a communication tool and a mechanism to internalise moral values and strengthen the community's collective identity. The ritual language in Korolele ceremonies is an effective instrument of culture-based character education, maintaining the continuity of oral traditions amidst modernisation. This study makes an important contribution to the study of ethnolinguistics, culture-based character education, and as a relevant informal education tool in traditional communities.
