Abstract

Abstract

Participation and selection of contraceptive methods may vary by region. It depends on the conditions of the region and the characteristics of the population in the region. Decision- making regarding participation and selection of contraceptive methods is influenced by various factors. Based on this description, this study aims to determine participation and selection of contraceptive use in Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta Province based on educational level and number of living children owned by women of childbearing age. This research method uses further analysis of the 2017 Indonesian Health Demographic Survey (IDHS) data for the women of the childbearing age section. The analytical method used is a descriptive analysis by use of cross tabulation with IBM SPSS software. The results of the study indicate that higher education does not necessarily have a high percentage of contraceptive use, however, the variable number of children has an influence on the participation of contraceptives by women of childbearing age. We found that women with ≤ 2 children still want to have more children and tend to use less effective methods (short-term contraceptive method), while women with > 2 children use long-term contraceptive methods as a more effective method because they want to limit the number of children.

Abstract

Socio-economic developments in Aceh Province have had a real impact which is reflected in the reduction in death and birth rates as well as an increase in life expectancy, causing changes in the composition of the population aged 60 years and over to increase. However, the developments that have occurred are not evenly distributed throughout the region, it is crucial to be aware of the concept of "being not ready to get old" that will arise in Aceh Province. This study analyzes the socio-economic development of regions with population aging in Aceh Province. The study was conducted with a quantitative approach. Data collection using documentation. Data analysis using descriptive analysis and modification of the Klassen typology. The results of the study showed that Aceh Province in 2020 was in the early aging stage (Mid-Aged) because the percentage of elderly people was more than 7%. It is estimated that in the next 25 years in 2035 Nagan Raya, South Aceh, and West Aceh will be in the high aging category (Super-Aged) or more than 14% and the results of the Klassen typology analysis using socio-economic indicators on population aging show that the development of the 23 districts/cities in Aceh Province is not only in areas that are high growth and high income (quadrant I), several districts/cities are in the category of low growth and low income (quadrant III)  where socio-economic development is low but have entered the early aging stage.

Abstract

Since 2015, hunger and food insecurity have shown a worrying upward trend worldwide, worsened by the pandemic, armed conflicts, climate change, and widening inequality. Statistics Indonesia (BPS) reported a growing gap between population growth and national rice production, raising concerns over the sustainability of both national and household food security. This study aimed to examine the determinants of household food security status in Indonesia. Secondary data were drawn from Susenas March 2023, Podes 2021, and KSA 2023. The analysis combined descriptive methods through tabulations and graphs with inferential methods using multilevel binary logistic regression. The findings indicated that the majority of households in Indonesia are food insecure. Furthermore, the inferential analysis revealed that all independent variables, except local economic infrastructure, significantly affected household food security status in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to describe why couples decide to have unmet needs and the impact on the family and the country of these decisions. The study used mixed methods. Qualitative, qualitative and secondary data analysis (quantitative). The results of the study High unmet need does not always lead to high fertility. Education, high female labor participation, and female empowerment are among the supporting factors. Independent women have a unique perspective in interpreting children. Women have the capacity to decide and analyze the presence of children. When a child is considered a burden on the family, it will be limited to have children. There's a group that identifies themselves as unmet need, but the TFR rate in a region remains stable. The willingness to spread children apart, or not have more children, and sexual intercourse without contraceptives have high no-birth outcomes. The conclusion is that not all unmet need contributes to a high TFR. Sexual intercourse without contraceptives, and still making TFR stable can be a new discourse for reproductive health issues of the people who use it.This study aims to describe why couples decide to have unmet needs and the impact on the family and the country of these decisions.
