Abstract

This research aims to find out what form of legal protection for the investigation of the rights of defamation suspects through social media. Researchers also obtained the results of research from South Sulawesi Police Investigators which have implemented optimal forms of the legal protection of the rights of defamation suspects in accordance with the rights written in the Criminal Procedure Code Articles 50 – 68. There are also investigators’ efforts, namely making efforts mediation of the defendants and suspects before the report continues in the investigation process. Abstrak:Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimanakah bentuk perlindungan hukum penyidikan terhadap terhadap hak-hak tersangka pencemaran nama baik melalui media social. Peneliti pun mendapatkan hasil penelitian dari Penyidik Polda Sulsel yang dimana telah terlaksana secara optimal bentuk perlindungan hukum terhadap hak-hak tersangka pencemaran nama baik sesuai dengan hak-hak yang tertulis dalam KUHAP Pasal 50 – 68. Ada pula bentuk upaya penyidik , yaitu telah melakukan upaya mediasi terhadap tergugat dan tersangka sebelum laporan tersebut berlanjut dalam proses penyidikan.
