Abstract

The 5-item World Health Organization Well-Being Index (WHO-5) is a frequently used brief standard measure in large-scale clinical studies. However, no research specifically on the validity test of WHO-5 was found in Indonesia before the pandemic. This study aims to test the validity of the Indonesian version of the 5-item WHO-5 in the COVID-19 pandemic setting. The online survey was used to collect data from February-2021 to September 2021. 1,084 Indonesians who were directly or indirectly affected by COVID-19 completed the survey. The scale was validated with Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Item Response Theory (IRT). The CFA and IRT analysis showed that the WHO-5 is valid. Thus, the WHO-5 is a short questionnaire that consists of five non-invasive questions adequate to measure the psychological well-being of the Indonesian sample, especially during the COVID-19 Pandemic, and could be used in other pandemics or crises.

Abstract

Self-Discrepancy Theory (Higgins, 1987) explains the inconsistency between individuals’ moral beliefs and their actual behavioral responses in social situations. Conformity pressure often encourages Generation Z to remain passive as bystanders despite recognizing moral violations, while no specific instrument has been developed to measure Self-Discrepancy in the context of sexual harassment. This study aimed to develop a Situational Judgment Test (SJT) instrument based on three dimensions (actual self, ideal self, and ought self) and three sub-dimensions (MSA, SPR, and SEB). Content validity was evaluated by four experts, resulting in an Item Content Validity Index (I-CVI) and Scale Content Validity Index (S-CVI) of 1.00 for 30 initial items. Data from 195 respondents were analyzed using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), producing acceptable model fit indices (CFI = 0.829, TLI = 0.806, RMSEA = 0.079, SRMR = 0.063). Twenty items were retained with standardized factor loadings ranging from 0.43 to 0.66 (p < .001), while one item was removed due to inadequate validity. The final instrument is valid and reliable for measuring bystander Self-Discrepancy in sexual harassment situations among university students and may be applied in broader populations in future studies.

Abstract

Hoarding behavior in Generation Z is characterized by difficulty discarding possessions, an urge to continuously acquire items, and the accumulation of clutter that disrupts the function of living spaces. This behavior has the potential to cause emotional, cognitive, and living-space functional disturbances in individuals. This study aims to develop and test the psychometric properties of a hoarding behavior instrument for Generation Z in Indonesia. The instrument consists of 35 items measuring three main dimensions: excessive acquisition, difficulty discarding, and clutter, using a 1-5 Likert scale. Validity was tested through expert judgment with 102 respondents, yielding a Cronbach's Alpha of 0.933, so that all items could proceed to subsequent testing with the same items. The next construct validity test on 170 respondents produced Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) results: the excessive acquisition dimension showed χ² = 118 (df = 64, p-value < .001), SRMR = 0.0573, and RMSEA = 0.070; the difficulty discarding dimension showed χ² = 128 (df = 43, p-value < .001), SRMR = 0.0493, and RMSEA = 0.108; and the clutter dimension showed χ² = 128 (df = 43, p-value < .001), SRMR = 0.0493, and RMSEA = 0.108. These findings indicate that the developed hoarding behavior instrument has good validity and reliability, making it suitable for measuring hoarding behavior for Generation Z in Indonesia and serving as a reference for researchers and psychologists in the assessment and research process.
