Abstract

Abstract The Community Service Program (KKN) in Lembengan Village, Jember Regency, focuses on cultivating catfish as a strategic step to increase food security and reduce stunting rates in the community. The choice of this topic was based on the high prevalence of stunting and nutritional problems in the village. The methods used include collaboration between KKN students, village officials, the Village Children's Forum (FAD), and the Jember District Fisheries Service. Core activities include distributing catfish seeds, raising awareness about cultivation, and education about the benefits of consuming catfish for pregnant women and children. The results of the activity showed a positive response from the community and village officials, with indications of increased awareness of the importance of nutrition and the economic potential of catfish cultivation. This program also produces a Follow-up Plan (RTL) which will be continued by the Village Children's Forum to ensure the sustainability of catfish cultivation in Lembengan Village. In conclusion, this initiative has great potential to improve community welfare and provide a positive long-term impact. Abstract

Abstract The community service programme conducted in Sana Tengah Village, Pasean Sub-district, Pamekasan Regency, represents an initiative aimed at fostering prosperous farmer groups. The programme sought to enhance farmers' knowledge and skills in using light traps as a monitoring tool within an integrated pest management framework. This initiative involved 50 respondents from the Padi Mas Farmers Group. It was carried out in several stages, including coordination with the farmer group, field monitoring of red onion agricultural conditions, focus group discussions (FGDs), implementation of light traps, assistance, and activity evaluation to measure programme effectiveness. Evaluation results indicated a significant improvement in farmers’ knowledge of pest control, with the percentage of respondents who were previously unaware decreasing from 60% to only 20%, while 80% became knowledgeable or highly knowledgeable. Additionally, over 70% of participants improved their skills in using light traps following the programme. The initiative also introduced intercropping techniques, enabling farmers to cultivate multiple crops on the same land, thereby increasing productivity and economic profitability. Keywords: red onion; farmers group; light trap; integrated pest management

Abstract

Batik, as Indonesia's cultural heritage, has become an important part of people's lives and drives the growth of the batik industry, including MSMEs such as Omah Batik and Ecoprint Nusantria. These MSMEs face major challenges in terms of weak branding, inconsistent visual identity, and less than optimal use of digital marketing, making it difficult to compete in an increasingly competitive market. To overcome this, a consistent branding strategy and maximum use of social media can help improve branding quality and expand market share. Community service activities at Omah Batik and Ecoprint Nusantria involve discussions, site reviews, counseling, consultations, training, and mentoring to improve understanding of visual branding, packaging design, and digital marketing. The results of the community service show that strengthening the branding of Omah Batik and Ecoprint Nusantria can be done by improving a consistent and authentic visual identity, as well as improving social media management to strengthen brand awareness. Improvements are made by focusing on a more attractive logo design and relevant Instagram content.

Abstract

Indonesia is the second largest exporter of peanuts to Europe. One of the export requirements is that exported peanuts do not contain pests and high levels of pesticides. Aphis craccivora Koch. is the main pest in peanuts and controlled generally using pesticides which cause high pesticide levels. The aim of this research is to determine the application technique for biopesticide containing enthomopathogen (Streptomyces sp. and Trichoderma sp.) and chitosan which were expected to control the population of the pest Aphis craccivora and the intensity of plant damage. The research was conducted and designed using factorial completely randomized design where the first factor was application time (before and after pest investment). The second factor was chitosan concentration of 0.6%, 0.9%, and 1.2% in potato-sugar extract solution. Each treatment combination was repeated 4 times. The results obtained that the pre-investment application technique with a chitosan concentration of 1.2% was more capable of incrasing the mortality of the pest A. craccivora by up to 70% and the application of biopesticide before investment with a concentration of 1.2% had a lower level of damage, namely 38.25%.

Abstract

Meloidogyne spp. is a root-knot nematode that can cause damage to plants up to 68%. The common control is the use of pesticides, but in the long term, it can damage the soil, so it is necessary to use biological agents that can control Meloidogyne spp. without causing environmental damage. The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of endophytic bacteria to control root-knot nematodes Meloidogyne spp.. The method used in this study was the exploration of endophytic bacteria from the Wonorejo mangrove ecotourism area, Surabaya using purposive sampling method. The five best endophytic bacteria were tested further with antagonistic tests. This test was carried out in vitro using 3 concentrations, namely 106, 108, and 1010 CFU/ml with 3 repetitions. The obtained results were tested using probit analysis to obtain the LC50 values. It was found that LC50 values for the most effective concentration to kill 50% of the Meloidogyne sp population is 109 and 1010 CFU/ml. It was also revealed that the isolate that is most capable of controlling Meloidogyne spp. nematodes is isolate A43. Keywords: Antagonist test, Endhopic bacteria, LC50, Mangrove, Meloidogyne spp.
