Abstract

Abstract

The problem of Hutumuri village officials is that they are limited in presenting data visually so that the available data is difficult to understand by the community. Therefore, the team decided to provide training to Hutumuri village officials in managing and utilizing population statistics data to create effective and attractive infographics. Village officials were trained to understand the basics of statistics, how to interpret data, and techniques for creating infographics using MS Excel. The training also covered data visualization concepts, such as the selection of colors, typography, and icons to make infographics attractive. Infographics are used to publish population statistics in Hutumuri Village, and village officials can easily present data in visual form at meetings or community gatherings. By this community service activity, village officials better understand the concept of population statistics data, can calculate and present population statistics in Hutumuri Village.

Abstract

The application of spatial statistics is now commonly used in analysis of phenomena of strategic indicators in Indonesia, including in archipelago provinces. However, application of spatial statistics in archipelago provinces is constrained by spatial weighted matrix that are less relevant in identifying the spatial effects of indicators, due to enormous number of territories which not directly bordered by land. Meanwhile, transportation connectivity in archipelago provinces has expanded far beyond its administrative boundaries. Through this research, we tried to formulate concept in development of spatial weighted matrix based on transportation connectivity between regency/city in archipelago provinces. Our research used primary data processing methods as well as literature studies, with used the data of sea and air transport routes between regencies and cities in the 3 archipelago provinces: Maluku, Maluku Utara, and Kepulauan Riau. We developed several types of spatial weighted matrix based on transportation connectivity between regency/city in those three provinces, as well concepts in combining such matrix with other kinds of spatial weighted matrix. With our research, it is hoped that could trigger more spatial research related to strategic indicators in archipelago provinces in Indonesia.

Abstract

Statistics taught at high school level consists of several basic concepts, namely descriptive statistics, combinatorics, and probability theory. Competitions can be an effective tool to encourage students to hone their skills and assess the extent to which the concepts they have learned are applied well. However, until now there is still a gap in student achievement in competitions between Maluku Provinces, due to gaps in students' understanding of basic concepts, especially in the field of Statistics. SMA Negeri 2 Seram Barat, as one of the leading schools in the region, actually has the potential to encourage its students to excel in competitions, but is hampered by an understanding of basic concepts, especially in the field of Statistics, which is still not optimal. The Mathematics Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Pattimura University took the initiative to provide deeper concepts to students at SMA Negeri 2 West Seram as preparation for facing competitions in the field of statistics, by providing effective explanations of the basic concepts of statistics that have been studied at the high school level, as well as enriching them with practice questions at Olympic level. to encourage students to work on questions. This activity aims to help students at SMA Negeri 2 Seram Barat Part in understanding the basic concepts in the field of Statistics, as well as as an example for SMA Negeri 2 Seram Barat teachers in implementing more effective student development strategies in order to prepare for competitions in the field of Statistics that will be participated in in the future. will come.

Abstract

This study examines the factors influencing Human Development Index (HDI) in Maluku and North Maluku Provinces using ordinal probit regression. Secondary data are employed to identify key socio-economic variables affecting HDI levels. Model selection is based on the Akaike Information Criterion (AIC), Schwarz Bayesian Information Criterion (SBIC), and R² values, while the Likelihood Ratio (LR) test is used to evaluate the significance of parameters. The findings reveal that expected years of schooling (X₂) is the most significant factor in determining HDI categories. The model that includes only this variable yields the lowest AIC and SBIC values and shows a significant LR test result. Furthermore, the negative regression coefficient indicates that an increase in expected years of schooling raises the probability of a region achieving a higher HDI category. These results underscore the crucial role of education policies in promoting human development. Future research is encouraged to incorporate economic, health, and infrastructure variables to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the factors influencing HDI.
