Abstract

The study purpose was to analyze the influence of human resource management (HRM) strategies on nurse performance at Bunda Thamrin General Hospital in Medan. As nurses play a critical role in healthcare delivery, their performance is essential for service quality and patient satisfaction. This study specifically examined the impact of recruitment and selection, training and development, and organizational commitment on the work performance of nurses. The research was conducted in response to ongoing challenges in staff absenteeism, complaints from patients, and underperformance despite structured HR policies. Materials and methods. The study employed a quantitative approach using a cross-sectional survey design. A total of 70 nurses were selected through stratified random sampling from different hospital units. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics version 26. Descriptive statistics were used to describe participant demographics, while Pearson correlation and multiple linear regression analyses were employed to examine the relationship between HRM variables and nurse performance. Ethical approval was obtained, and participation was voluntary and confidential. Results. The findings revealed a positive and statistically significant correlation between HRM strategies and nurse performance. Among the HRM components, training and development had the highest influence (r = 0.684, p < 0.01), followed by organizational commitment and recruitment. Regression analysis indicated that HRM strategies accounted for 54.8% of the variance in nurse performance (Adjusted R² = 0.548). Conclusions. Human resource management strategies, particularly training, recruitment, and organizational commitment, significantly affect nurse performance. Hospitals should strengthen these strategies to improve service delivery and staff productivity.

Abstract

Keselamatan pasien adalah salah satu hasil pasien yang paling diperhatikan oleh semua unit analisis rumah sakit. Survey yang dilakukan penulis di RSUP H. Adam Malik Medan  pada tahun 2023 menemukan jumlah pelaporan terkait insiden keselamatan cukup tinggi yaitu 559 kasus, dimana 58 kasus di antaranya terjadi di IGD dengan rincian  KPC 45 laporan (8%), KNC 12 laporan (2,1%), KTD 1 laporan (0,2%) dengan jenis insiden adalah pasien jatuh. Dalam upaya meminimalisir terjadinya insiden keselamatan pasien, maka disusunlah sasaran keselamatan pasien yang bertujuan untuk mendorong perbaikan spesifik dalam keselamatan pasien. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan cara wawancara mendalam kepada 11 orang informan. Hasil penelitian, bahwa implementasi sasaran keselamatan pasien di IGD RSUP H. Adam Malik sudah berjalan namun belum maksimal. Beberapa hal yang menjadi hambatan dan tantangan antara lain staf yang kurang paham dalam pembuatan laporan, perputaran peserta didik, ketidakjujuran dalam pelaporan karena merasa takut dihukum, IGD yang selalu ramai, SDM yang belum benar-benar patuh hingga masalah jaringan internet yang kurang adekuat sehingga mengganggu proses komunikasi.

Abstract

Background; Surgical Site Infection is an infection of the surgical wound or organs / space that occurs within 30 days after surgery or within 1 year if there is an implant. Sources of bacteria in SSI can derived from patients, doctors and teams, the environment, as well as the medical instrumental. Bundles are a set of valid evidence-based practices that result in improved health care outcomes when carried out collectively and consistently. Objectives; This study aims to compare the effectiveness of the CATS bundle with the modified CATS bundle on the incidence of SSI in caesarean surgery at Mitra Medika General Hospital. Methodology; The design of this study is quasi-experimental research, with a non-equivalent control group posttest - only design. The population in this study were 873 patients who underwent caesarean section surgery at Mitra Medika General Hospital. The sample of this study using purposive sampling, amount to 90 patients. Analysis of the data in this study using the Chi Square test. Results; The results of the Chi Square test analysis showed that the Fisher Exact p value was 0.167 . The p value was> 0.05, so H0 was accepted and H1 was rejected. Conclusions; The conclusion of this study is that there is no difference in the effectiveness of the CATS bundle and the modified CATS bundle on the incidence of SSI in caesarean section surgery patients at Mitra Medika General Hospital.
