Abstract

The effect of glycerol at the TSB media on Aeromonas hydrophila bacteria viability was studied. The purpose of this study was to obtain the best glyserol concentration in TSB as storage media for Aeromonas hydrophila bacteria. The completely randomized design with one factor was used for four treatments and three replications, i.e., TSB media added glycerol 10%, 15%, 20% and 25%. The stage of this research included media preparation, preliminary test, glycerol preparation, inoculation on kryotube, and test bacteria inspection. The test results showed the highest bacteria growth capacity was found on bacteria stored in TSB that was added with glycerol under concentration of 15%, namely 5.77 x 107 CFU/ml and the lowest one in TSB that was added gluserol 25%, experiencing total death on 56th day. The largest percentage of bacteria viability during storage was obtained on 15% glycerol increment, accounting for 0.01015%, and the lowest one was found on 115% glyserol increment, namely 0%. The aeromonas hydrophila bacteria storage with using glycerol concentration for 10%, 15%, 20% and 25% on temperature -20o C during 56 days did not cause to be occured mutation and change the bacteria charactristics. Percentage of suitable bacteria on mother T (0) was 100%.

Abstract

This study was conducted commencing on October 8, 2013 until December 7, 2013, at the hatchery Faculty of Agriculture, University of Islam Riau Pekanbaru. This study aimed to determine the effect of probiotic viterna on artificial feed on fish growth Mystus nemurus. This study used a completely randomized design with 4 treatments: P0 without treatment (control), P1 addition of probiotic viterna 2 cc/kg of feed, P2 4 cc/kg of feed and P3 6 cc/ g of feed. Fish samples used are fish seed baung 2 months old with an average weight of 3.0 g and 6.0 cm long. The container used in this study is the cage net with a size of 1 x 1 x 1.2 (m) 12 units. Analysis of data using analysis of variance with 5% confidence level. The results showed that the addition of probiotic treatment viterna the best feed in the treatment of 6 cc/kg of feed and the addition of probiotic viterna no significant effect on the growth of the absolute weight, daily weight growth rate and feed conversion rate baung fish.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to examine the effect of giving tyroxin hormone (T4) with soaking on growth and survival of gouramy seed (O. gouramy Lac). The research was conducted at the Hatchery Faculty of Agriculture Riau Islamic University Pekanbaru from October to November 2009. Method used was experiment. Treatment consisted of P1 (without tyroxin hormone), P2 (0.3 mg/3 l water), P3 (0.9 mg/3 l water) and P4 (1.5 mg/3 l water). The resuts showed that the highest absolute growth weight was found on P4 of about 1.11 g, the highest absolute growth lenght on P4 of about 0.93 cm, and the highest daily speed growth on P4 of about 2.9%. The survival rate was found to be 100% for the whole treatments. The variation analysis was obtained that the use of tyroxin hormone with different dosages had no significant effect on growth rate of weight and lenght for gouramy seed.

Abstract

Meniran (PhyllanthusniruriL) solution test for the treatment measures of Clariasgariepinus which was infected by bacteria Edwardsiellatarda was conducted. The purpose of this study was to find the effective concentration of the solution meniran for prevention of red spot disease (edwardseliosis) that infect catfish. The completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 3 replications was used. The treatment was worked by soaking in a solution with meniran concentrations of 3,000 ppm, 5,000 ppm, 7,000 ppm and without being given meniran solution as a control. The average of meniran solution inhibition against bacteria at concentration of 50,000 ppm of 14.3 mm, concentration of 25,000 ppm of 12 mm, concentration of 10,000 ppm of 8.7 mm and concentration of 5,000 ppm of 6 mm. Meniran L D50 concentration test of 40,000 and 60,000 on the 24-hour immersion caused death by 10%. The highest survival rate was found at a concentration of 7,000 ppm as 86.67%.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effect of the hormone thyroxine (T4) on the survival and growth of fish seed jambal conjoined. The method used was experiment with completely randomized design with one factor and four treatments. The observed parameters were the absolute weight growth of fish seed jambal, the total length growth, the growth rate of daily weight percentage, and survial rate. The treatment consisted of P1 (without the hormone thyroxine), P2 (soaking with hormone thyroxine at a dose 0.2 mg / 2 liter), P3 (soaking with hormone thyroxine at a dose of 0.6 mg / 2 liter), P4 (soaking with hormone thyroxine at a dose of 1.0 mg / 2 liter). The observation results showed that the best dosage was found on soaking treatment with hormone thyroxine 1.0 mg/2 liter. On that treatment, the growth of the absolute weight of jambal siam fish seed reached 7.04 g, the absolute length growth of 3.07 cm, the growth rate of daily weight percentage of 15.91% and survival rate of 100%.

Abstract

Limbah sayuran, meskipun potensial mencemari lingkungan, dapat diubah menjadi sumber nutrisi yang bernilai dengan mengolahnya menjadi pupuk organik cair (POC) yang dapat mendukung pertumbuhan mikroalga Chlorella sp. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh konsentrasi POC limbah sayuran terhadap kepadatan sel Chlorella sp. Melalui rancangan acak lengkap dengan lima variasi konsentrasi (4 mL L-1, 5 mL L-1, 6 mL L-1, 7 mL L-1 dan 8 mL L-1) dan tiga ulangan, kami mengevaluasi efeknya selama 20 hari terhadap parameter seperti kepadatan sel, laju pertumbuhan spesifik, biomassa, serta penyerapan nutrien dan kualitas air. Hasilnya mengungkapkan bahwa konsentrasi POC limbah sayuran secara signifikan memengaruhi kepadatan sel Chlorella sp., dengan perlakuan terbaik tercapai pada konsentrasi 5 mL L-1. Pada hari ke-14, kepadatan sel mencapai 893,33 ± 5,78 ×104 sel mL-1, dengan biomassa sebesar 0,38 ± 0,00 g L-1 dan laju pertumbuhan spesifik sebesar 0,09 hari-1. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa konsentrasi POC limbah sayuran 5 mL L-1 optimal untuk kultur Chlorella sp., memberikan kontribusi penting dalam pengembangan solusi berkelanjutan untuk pengelolaan limbah dan produksi biomassa mikroalga.Vegetable waste, despite its potential environmental pollution, can be transformed into a valuable nutrient source by processing it into liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) that can support the growth of the microalga Chlorella sp. This study aims to analyze the effect of vegetable waste LOF concentration on the cell density of Chlorella sp. Through a completely randomized design with five concentration variations (4 mL L-1, 5 mL L-1, 6 mL L-1, 7 mL L-1, and 8 mL L-1) and three replicates, we evaluated its effects over a period of 20 days on parameters such as cell density, specific growth rate, biomass, nutrient uptake, and water quality. The results revealed that the concentration of vegetable waste LOF significantly influenced the cell density of Chlorella sp., with the best treatment achieved at a concentration of 5 mL L-1. On day 14, the cell density reached 893.33 ± 5.78 ×104 cells mL-1, with a biomass of 0.38 ± 0.00 g L-1, and a specific growth rate of 0.09 day-1. The conclusion of this research confirms that a concentration of 5 mL L-1 of vegetable waste LOF is optimal for Chlorella sp. culture, providing a significant contribution to the development of sustainable solutions for waste management and microalgae biomass production.

Abstract

Salah satu ikan air tawar yang bernilai ekonomi tinggi di Asia Tenggara adalah ikan baung (Hemibagrus nemurus). Namun dalam memenuhi permintaan masyarakat, permasalahan yang sering dihadapi pembudidaya adalah besarnya biaya pakan, sehingga perlu adanya pemberian pakan buatan berbahan dasar lokal yang murah dan mudah didapat. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk melihat pengaruh pemberian pakan buatan berupa kombinasi fermentasi ampas sagu dan tepung kepala ikan teri (Stolephorus indicus) dengan persentase yang berbeda terhadap kelulushidupan dan pertumbuhan benih ikan baung. Percobaan ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) satu faktor dengan empat tingkat perlakuan, yaitu P1 pemberian pakan sebanyak 6%, P2 (8%), P3 (10%), dan P4 (12%) dari bobot tubuh ikan uji dengan tiga ulangan. Hasil penelitian menemukan bahwa persentase pemberian pakan uji kombinasi fermentasi ampas sagu dan tepung kepala ikan teri hingga 10 % dapat meningkatkan pertumbuhan benih ikan baung, namun bila ditingkatkan menjadi 12% pertumbuhan mengalami penurunan. Secara statistik persentase pemberian pakan uji berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap bobot mutlak dan laju pertumbuhan harian benih ikan baung. Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa persentase pemberian pakan fermentasi ampas sagu dan tepung kepala ikan teri sebanyak 10% dari bobot tubuh ikan baung optimal untuk meningkatkan pertumbuhan karena sesuai dengan kebutuhan nutrisi ikan baung. Pakan ini dapat dikembangkan sebagai pakan berbahan baku lokal untuk ikan baung karena mudah diperoleh, harganya murah, dapat menekan biaya produksi, dan tersedia berkesinambungan.One of high value freshwater fish in Southeast Asia is the Asian redtail catfish (Hemibagrus nemurus). However, to meet the public demand, the frequently problem faced by farmers is the high cost of feed, so it is necessary to provide artificial feed based on local ingredients that are cheap and easy to obtain. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of feeding of an artificial feed in the form of a combination of fermented sago dregs and anchovy head meal (Stolephorus indicus) at different percentages on the survival and growth of the Asian redtail catfish. This study used a one-factor completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatment levels, namely P1 feeding as much as 6%, 8% (P2), 10% (P3), and 12% (P4) of the test fish's body weight triplicates. The results of this study showed that feeding of the test feed up to 10% could increase the growth of Asian redtail catfish fry, but when it was increased to 12%, growth decreased. Statistically, the percentages of feeding of fermented sago dregs and anchovy head meal as much as 10% of Asian redtail catfish body weight was optimum to increase, because it meets the nutritional requirements of Asian redtail catfish (P<0.05). From the results of the study, it can be concluded that the percentage of feeding fermented sago waste and anchovy head meal as much as 10% of the body weight of Asian redtail catfish is optimal for increasing growth because it is in accordance with the nutritional needs of Asian redtail catfish. This feed can be developed as the feed based on local ingredients for Asian redtail catfish because it is easily obtained, the price is cheap, it can reduce production costs, and it is available continuously.

Abstract

Perikanan budidaya merupakan salah satu sektor yang memiliki peluang dalam peningkatan ekonomis masyarakat. Keberhasilan usaha budidaya ikan salah satunya bergantung terhadap pengendalian penyakit ikan. Penyakit infeksi dapat menimbulkan gangguan, baik secara langsung maupun tidak langsung hingga menyebabkan kematian pada ikan. Dalam pengobatan penyakit ikan yang disebabkan oleh mikroba selalu menggunakan antibiotik, namun penggunaan antibiotik ini dapat menimbulkan efek negatif pada ikan dan lingkungan. Alternatif yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengurangi penggunaan antibiotik ini adalah menggunakan bahan alami dari tanaman yang memiliki senyawa antibakteri seperti tanaman daun senduduk bulu (Clidemia hirta). Tujuan pelatihan ini adalah memberikan pengetahuan bagaimana mengekstrak bahan antibakteri dari tanaman kepada siswa SMK 1 Bengkalis. Metode pelatihan yang diberikan kepada para siswa ini adalah pemberian materi secara teori dan praktek. Hasil pelatihan diperoleh ekstrak daun senduduk bulu mengandung senyawa fenolik, terpenoid, saponin, dan flavonoid. Hasil uji daya hambat ekstrak daun senduduk bulu dapat menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Edwarsiella tarda sebesar 21,5 mm, Aeromonas salmonicida 20,5 mm, dan Pseudomonas aeruginosa 23,5 mm. Hasil kegiatan ini menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman dan pengetahuan siswa terhadap proses ekstraksi pada tanaman.
