Abstract

People with Mental Disorders (ODGJ) are a marginalized group who often receive inhumane treatment, are discriminated against, abandoned and become victims of violence. This article explores the pastoral care carried out by the Kamilian Order in Sikka, East Nusa Tenggara Province towards the ODGJ group from 2016 to 2023 and reflects on this work in the light of the Gospel of John 4:1-42. The method used is qualitative. Field data was obtained through interviews and participatory observation. The results of the research found that the Kamilian Order had implemented four superior routine programs, namely: 1) conducting professional searches and data collection on ODGJ, 2) building communication and education with patients and their families, 3) providing spiritual services, and 4) building safe houses free of shackles. Through this work, the Kamilian Order has presented a Christ who cares for and saves the small and marginalized, as is the message of the Gospel of John 4:1-42. This research concludes that the Kamilian Order has a significant concern and pastoral role in humanizing ODGJ in Sikka, NTT and realizing the gospel of liberation for marginalized people.

Abstract

The ke'o rado ritual is a rite of reconciliation and purification for those who have had a tragic death (mata golo) in the Ngadhanesse, Flores, Eastern Indonesia. The primary purpose of this article is to interpret the meaning of the ke'o rado ritual and its theological implications. This paper is a qualitative descriptive study and participatory observation using a literature review and key informant interviews. The study found no official confirmation from the Catholic Church authorities in Ngada that ke'o rado contradicts Christian doctrine. However, some Ngada people consider that the ritual is contrary to the teachings of the Christian faith regarding salvation in Christ and thus should be abandoned. In contrast, this paper concludes that the ke'o rado ritual must be observed since it has theological significance and can be brought into dialogue with the teachings of the Christian faith.

Abstract

The formation of a child's character is an important task for parents. Character formation in children is not an easy task but rather a very complex one. Parents are required to help their children when they experience difficulties in developing good character within themselves at some point. Here, the role of parents is very much needed. In the current digital era, children are being challenged, where they face an era that creates dilemmas for them. This dilemma arises when children follow the flow of technological development or adhere to their parents' teachings. Therefore, the author highlights a holy scripture, namely Proverbs 1:8-15, to help parents understand how they should enlighten their children when they are facing challenges and trials in the digital era. This verse from the holy scripture also helps children to be able to stand firm in their beliefs, meaning they are not easily swayed by the changes of the times. The methods used in the writing of this scientific paper are library research and field research. The purpose of the research is to determine the extent to which parents play a role in the formation of a child's character. From the research conducted by the researchers at SDK St. Klaus Werang, it shows that the presence of gadgets in children has a positive influence on the formation of children's character. Although the presence of gadgets has had a significantly positive impact on the formation of children's character, parents must continue to monitor and limit their children's use of gadgets.
