Abstract

Abstract This research aims to determine the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of using the Heyzine application in teaching circular equations to 11th-grade students in senior high school. The research method employed the Four-D (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate) development model developed by S. Thiagarajan, Dorothy Semmel, and Melvyn I. Semmel. Data collection involved documentation and questionnaires, while data analysis used a descriptive qualitative approach. The results showed that the e-module for mathematics instruction was deemed highly valid by experts and practitioners. The validity percentages of the e-module were as follows: 82.5% for subject matter experts with the criteria "very valid," 89% for media experts with the criteria "very valid," 85% for language experts with the criteria "very valid," and 82.75% for practitioners with the criteria "very valid." Thus, the overall validity averaged 84.81% with the criteria "very valid." The mathematics e-module on circular equations was also evaluated to meet usability aspects. Student responses to the e-module's usability across 13 assessment aspects averaged 87.53%, indicating that the e-module fulfilled usability requirements in practice. The use of the Heyzine application in teaching circular equations was proven effective, as there was an increase in student learning interest after using the module. The increase in student interest in learning mathematics reached 37.679%. Therefore, this e-module can be considered an effective alternative for improving the teaching of circular equations to 11th-grade students in senior high school. Keywords: E-Module, Heyzine

Abstract

Logarithms are one of the mathematics lesson materials in the algebra aspect which provide many benefits in everyday life. Despite the many benefits associated with logarithms, most students think that logarithms are something difficult and not worth learning. This research aims to determine important factors in students' difficulties in understanding the concept of logarithms. The samples were 99 class X students from three public high schools in Aceh Tamiang Regency. Data was obtained using a logarithm material diagnostic test instrument based on aspects of logarithms as an object, process, function, and contextual problems. From these four aspects, we identified 17 variables that caused students difficulty in understanding the concept of logarithms. The research results show that there are five main factors that cause students difficulties in understanding the concept of logarithms. These factors are: (a) connecting square roots with logarithms, (b) connecting logarithmic and exponential functions as inverses, (c) rules of logarithmic notation, (d) logarithmic graphs, and (e) simplifying logarithmic expressions

Abstract

Tempeh, a traditional Indonesian fermented soybean product, is highly nutritious but under-consumed by children due to its bland appearance and unfamiliar texture. This community service program aimed to enhance elementary school students’ interest in consuming tempeh through a participatory training that introduced character molds into the tempeh-making process. Conducted with 20 students aged 9–11 years, the intervention employed a pretest-posttest design to assess changes in tempeh preferences, knowledge, and willingness to consume and prepare tempeh. Results indicated significant improvements across all indicators: students’ liking of tempeh increased from 35% to 85%, their perception of its visual appeal rose from 25% to 90%, and willingness to try character-shaped tempeh reached 95%. The program not only improved students’ understanding of tempeh’s nutritional benefits but also engaged them in creative, hands-on food preparation that enhanced motivation and enjoyment. The findings support the use of experiential learning and visual food design in child nutrition education. This initiative effectively combined cultural food preservation with innovative teaching strategies. It demonstrates that integrating fun and creativity into traditional food education can promote healthier eating habits and strengthen local food identity among young learners. Future programs should consider scaling up and incorporating family and school-level involvement to achieve a broader and more sustainable impact.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the impact of communication skills and the project-based learning (PBL) model on the reasoning skills of eighth-grade students at SMP Islam Nurul Huda. This study used a two-group experimental design, with one experimental group using the PjBL model and the other group using traditional techniques. A two-way MANOVA approach was used in analysing the data. The results showed that the PjBL model significantly improved students' abilities in mathematical reasoning and problem solving compared to the traditional approach. The learning model and communication ability interacted to affect reasoning ability, but there was no difference in ability based on students' communication ability level.
