Abstract

Electricity is one of the most important needs in everyday life due to technological advances. So various efforts are needed to increase electricity production, one way is to build a power plant that can produce productive electricity so that this happens, one way to determine electricity productivity is the value of cycle efficiency. If the value of the cycle efficiency is higher in a generator, then the PLTG performance will be maximized. And if the cycle efficiency value gets smaller, it can be said that the PLTG's performance is not good. Therefore, to maintain PLTG performance, it is necessary to carry out an overhaul to maintain optimal PLTG performance. In this study using cycle efficiency to determine the increase in efficiency before and after overhaul at a load of 100 MW and the causes, after analyzing the efficiency of the brayton cycle increased from 41% to 42%, the cause was a decrease in turbine efficiency from 74 to 91% and compressor efficiency from 73 to 82% after overhaul the increase affected fuel consumption so that the requirement of kcal/kwh decreased to 3196.4 kcal/ Kwh

Abstract

Solar Power Plant (PLTS) absorbs solar energy and is adjusted to the change in circulation from 06.00 in the morning to 17.00 in the afternoon. This requires adjustment to the installation of a solar power plant so that energy capture can be optimal; this adjustment uses a sunlight capture tool called Suntracker. The main tools are in the form of movers, timers and work steps that can be dragged. Based on the testing results and discussion of the overall design of solar trackers, namely. The highest current measurement results in stationary solar cells (static) occur at 11.00 WIB, which is 0.23 A. The highest current measurement results on solar trackers also occur at 10.00 WIB, 0.25 A. The highest voltage measurement in stationary solar cells occurs at 10.00 WIB, which is 14.2 volts. Moreover, the highest voltage measurement results on the solar tracker occurred at 10.00 WIB, which is 20.3 volts.

Abstract

Gas turbines are one of the primary technologies in power generation due to their ability to produce energy quickly and efficiently. However, the performance of gas turbines can decline over time due to fouling on the compressor, which negatively impacts the thermal efficiency of the system. One common maintenance method to address this issue is compressor washing. This study aims to analyze the impact of compressor washing on the thermal efficiency of gas turbines at PLTGU UP Muara Tawar Block 3.3 and to identify the influencing factors, using the Sankey diagram approach. The study uses both primary and secondary data collected between March and August 2024. The results show a slight improvement in thermal efficiency after compressor washing, from a range of 12.319%–13.215% to 12.295%–12.811%. The Sankey diagram reveals an increase in net output and a reduction in compressor work after cleaning. The main factors affecting thermal efficiency include compressor fouling, ambient temperature variation, and the non-operational status of the HRSG unit during the observation period. These findings confirm that compressor washing contributes to restoring gas turbine performance and enhancing overall system efficiency. Abstract

Gas turbines are one type of power plant with high flexibility, but their performance is greatly affected by variations in operating load. This study aims to analyse the effect of load variations on the thermal efficiency of Gas Turbine Unit 1.2 at the Muara Karang Gas Power Plant under three load conditions, namely 70 MW, 80 MW, and 90 MW. Actual operational data was used to calculate component work (compressor, combustion chamber, and turbine) and cycle thermal efficiency using thermodynamic calculation methods based on the Brayton Cycle. The calculation results were validated using Cycle Tempo and EES (Engineering Equation Solver) software with an average deviation of <5%. The results show that thermal efficiency increases as the operating load increases. At a load of 70 MW, the thermal efficiency was recorded at 30.30%, increasing to 30.76% at a load of 80 MW, and reaching a peak of 31.72% at a load of 90 MW. These findings prove that gas turbines operate most efficiently at loads close to their maximum capacity, so that operating at optimal loads can reduce specific fuel consumption and improve the energy efficiency of the plant.

Abstract

This study analyzes the thermal efficiency performance of a Combined Cycle Power Plant (PLTGU) at PT PLN Nusantara Power, Gresik Generation Unit, focusing on Gas Turbine GT 3.2 in Block 3 Unit 2. The objective is to compare turbine performance before and after an overhaul (Turbine Inspection/TI). The research is driven by increasing electricity demand and the gradual degradation of gas turbine components due to operating hours, such as fouling and mechanical wear, which can increase fuel consumption and reduce efficiency. Thermal efficiency, based on the Brayton cycle theory, is used as the main performance indicator and is defined as the ratio of net work output to heat input (Qin). This research applies a field study method with a comparative before–after approach using actual operational data. The analyzed parameters include temperature, pressure, fuel flow rate, and lower heating value (LHV) at loads of 100 MW and 103 MW. Data processing and calculations were performed using Microsoft Excel. The results indicate that thermal efficiency improved after the overhaul. At 100 MW, efficiency increased from 30.5450% to 31.4085%, while at 103 MW it rose from 30.7662% to 31.4256%. Turbine output power also increased by 4.7 MW (4.55%). Overall, the overhaul positively restored turbine performance and improved thermal efficiency.

Abstract

The growing demand for electricity requires a proportional increase in power generation to ensure a stable supply for both public and industrial needs. To maintain this stability, Gas and Steam Power Plants (PLTGU) must operate in optimal condition. Thermal efficiency plays a crucial role in determining the plant’s ability to generate electricity effectively. This study aims to analyze the thermal efficiency of PLTGU UP Muara Karang Block 2 at a 135 MW load using the Sankey Diagram approach. This method provides a comprehensive visualization of energy flow and system efficiency. The analysis is based on the First Law of Thermodynamics, focusing on key components such as the compressor, gas turbine, combustor, and other essential elements. The results show an increase in thermal efficiency from 84.92% to 86.40% after an overhaul. This improvement reflects better heat distribution to the main components, indicating more optimal energy conversion. Additionally, the reduction in heat loss signifies an overall enhancement in energy efficiency.
