Abstract

Church leadership is often reduced to structural or administrative aspects, whereas theologically it is a calling to embody the love, power, and character of Christ among His people. This study is grounded in the theology of incarnation, particularly John Calvin’s perspective within the Reformed theological framework, which emphasizes that Jesus Christ, as God who became human, is the ultimate model of leadership. The aim of this research is to formulate a church leadership paradigm rooted in incarnational principles, enabling church leaders to serve with humility, solidarity, and transformative impact. The research method employed is a literature study with a theological-doctrinal approach, examining biblical sources, Calvin’s works, and contemporary literature on Christian leadership. The findings reveal that incarnational leadership requires the leader’s full engagement with the congregation, willingness to empathize with their struggles, and commitment to holistic restoration. This paradigm is relevant not only to pastoral ministry but also as a model for church leadership amid today’s complex challenges. Thus, church leadership grounded in the example of Jesus’ incarnation can foster authentic, edifying, and transformative ministry for the spiritual and social renewal of the congregation.

Abstract

This paper focuses on the discourse on religion as an instrument of peace. The basic idea behind this is the emergence of various discriminatory and violent treatments in the name of religion. This reality contradicts the essence and purpose of religion as a source of inspiration, spiritual, ethical, and moral foundation for the formation of a peaceful global community. After exploring the various views on religion, violence and peace itself, my opinion is that in an effort to become an instrument of peace, religions must abandon their dogmatism and institutional arrogance and even their superiority over other religions. Redefining the essence and purpose of religion, mutual acceptance and recognition of existence are the best paths to authentic peace in Indonesian.

Abstract

Covid-19 is a pandemic that first emerged in Wuhan, China at the end of 2019. The emergence of this pandemic of course raises anxiety and raises many questions. One of them is about the presence of God in the midst of this pandemic situation. This paper seeks to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic within the framework of Providentia Dei, namely the Christian doctrine of God's providence. The fundamental issue that becomes the focus of writing is how to understand God the Creator and Sustainer in the midst of the current pandemic? In order to answer this question, I am exploring the causes and views of the church on the four pandemics in world history. The results of this historical search are then understood from five perceptions of the pandemic, namely fate, punishment for sins, tests of faith, and signs of the End Times. Next is trying to understand the Covid-19 pandemic within the framework of Providentia Dei, which, in my opinion, must be understood in the light of the Cross as a manifestation of God's providence as "a vulnerable God," "suffering God," and "God who restores."

Abstract

This study aims to describe the understanding of the Christology of the Kawanua people in the Providensia Tanggerang congregation and how it is in accordance with the teachings of the church and GMIM Christology. Informants have been selected from among the members of the congregation and special servants using purposive sampling. The transcripts were then analyzed using a phenomenological approach. The participants' personal experiences are described as follows: 1. Most of the people in the GMIM Providentia Tangerang congregation understand Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, the Helper during their time abroad, and who has united them with their fellow people to worship together within the scope of GMIM. 2. Regarding its conformity with the teachings of the church and GMIM christology, it can be seen that everyone understands who Jesus is, but there are still those who do not understand Jesus' position in the relationship of the Trinity. This description can serve as input for the Christian Evangelical Church in Minahasa to improve the quality of its ministry, so that the faith life of its congregation members becomes more clearly centered on knowing who Jesus Christ is.
