Abstract

This study focuses on the dynamics of social and technological change at MA Darun Najjah Lumajang and the madrasa's efforts to maintain the relevance of Islamic education amid the demands of 21st-century skills. In this context, the madrasa faces the challenge of preserving traditional Islamic values while adapting to the digital era and meeting societal expectations for graduates who are not only religious but also professionally competent. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation from five key informants, including the principal, vice principal, teachers, and students. The findings reveal that MA Darun Najjah has begun integrating 21st-century skills into its curriculum through teacher training, the use of digital media, and extracurricular programs. However, challenges remain in areas such as accountability, data-based quality evaluation, and institutional capacity. The implications of this study highlight the need to strengthen a context-based, data-driven educational quality system, enhance teachers’ evaluative capacity, and design an integrative curriculum that combines Islamic values with global demands.

Abstract

This study focuses on the efforts to transform the Islamic education curriculum at SMK Syarifuddin Lumajang through the integration of life skills and entrepreneurship as a strategy to address the future skills emergency. Using a qualitative method with a case study approach, this research explores the practice of curriculum reconstruction based on Islamic values relevant to 21st-century demands, through observations, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, and analysis of learning documents. The findings indicate that contextual and transformative Islamic education successfully integrates the strengthening of digital literacy, problem-solving, collaboration, and entrepreneurship practices based on halal products and digital marketing. This approach not only reinforces students’ religious character but also equips them with competitiveness, creativity, and readiness to face social and technological changes. The implications of this study encourage the development of an Islamic education curriculum that is more responsive, adaptive, and directly connected to the business world and the needs of modern society.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the integration between the basic concepts of quality management in Islamic education with the principles of Total Quality Management (TQM) in the context of Islamic boarding school-based madrasahs. Islamic educational institutions currently face major challenges in ensuring the quality of education that is in line with the demands of the times and Islamic values. A qualitative-descriptive approach with a multiple case study design was used in this study, with three madrasahs in East Java and Central Java as the objects. Data collection techniques include in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and quality documentation studies. The results of the study indicate that the integration of Islamic values (such as amanah, ihsan, deliberation, and sincerity) with the principles of TQM (continuous improvement, stakeholder focus, and teamwork) is able to form an effective quality management system with an Islamic character. This model results in increased student and parent satisfaction, and strengthens a value-based quality culture. This study suggests the development of a conceptual model of Islamic Education Quality Management-TQM as a strategic guideline for contemporary Islamic educational institutions.
