Abstract

This study focuses on integrating Islamic values with the concept of Total Quality Management (TQM) as a holistic approach to enhancing the quality of Islamic education. The main objective is to formulate a spiritually based quality approach model that harmonizes modern management principles with Islamic values to support the sustainable optimization of Islamic educational institutions. This research employs a qualitative approach with a field study design conducted at MA Nurul Jadid Paiton, Probolinggo Regency, alongside library research with a descriptive-analytical method. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with school leaders and teachers, and documentation. The findings reveal that integrating Islamic values, such as sincerity (ikhlas), trustworthiness (amanah), excellence (ihsan), and deliberation (musyawarah) into TQM principles, including customer focus (student-centeredness), continuous improvement, and total involvement, significantly contributes to establishing a culture of quality that is not only rational and systematic but also spiritual and transcendental. The implication of this model is the development of a more meaningful, sustainable, and spiritually grounded management system in Islamic education, capable of responding to modern challenges without abandoning its religious foundation.

Abstract

This study explores the role of accreditation, specifically the implementation of ISO 21001:2018, in enhancing educational quality at Islamic boarding school Nurul Jadid, Paiton, Probolinggo. Using a qualitative approach with a case study design, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation over a seven-day field study. The analysis employed the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, which includes data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that accreditation not only improved administrative systems and documentation but also significantly influenced human resource attitudes, organizational culture, and public perception of the institution. The integration of quality standards contributed to greater institutional accountability, professionalism, and internal collaboration. Moreover, the pesantren’s ability to maintain its traditional Islamic values while adopting international quality frameworks demonstrates that transformation and tradition can coexist harmoniously. This research provides new insights into how quality assurance systems can be contextualized in religious-based education and offers a model for other Islamic institutions seeking sustainable reform.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the integration of accreditation and Total Quality Management (TQM) in improving educational quality in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren). Using a qualitative approach with a case study at the Muadalah Education Unit of Al-Mashduqiah Islamic Boarding School, data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies with three groups of informants: room guardians, boarding school administrators, and student guardians. The results indicate that understanding and implementation of the collaborative strategy of accreditation and TQM are not evenly distributed among stakeholders, with the dominant role of boarding school administrators and minimal participation from both student and student guardians. The implementation of TQM principles, such as the PDCA cycle and the involvement of all educational elements, remains suboptimal. Although there has been an increase in learning outcomes among active students, the quality strategy has not yet become a comprehensive culture. This study concludes that the integration of accreditation and TQM can drive systemic transformation of educational quality if implemented in a participatory and sustainable manner

Abstract

This research focuses on exploring the quality management paradigm in Islamic education amidst social, cultural, and institutional changes. The background to this study is based on the fact that many Islamic educational institutions, particularly Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), face challenges in defining and implementing quality systematically amidst the continued dominance of traditional values. Using a qualitative, phenomenological approach, this research was conducted at Madrasah Diniyah Raudlatul Ulum, Situbondo, East Java. Data collection techniques included in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation studies, which were then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The results reveal a tension between the traditional quality paradigm, based on spirituality and adab (ethics) and the systemic approach based on formal measurement and administrative indicators. The charismatic leadership of Islamic boarding schools plays a key role in determining the direction of quality transformation, while local social and cultural dynamics often contribute to resistance to the implementation of formal quality systems. These findings demonstrate that quality management in Islamic education is not merely a technical issue but also a matter of values, meaning, and context. The implications of this research point to the need to develop a quality management model based on local culture and values that can bridge traditional and modern approaches harmoniously and contextually.

Abstract

The rapid development of globalization and digitalization has intensified competition in the labor market, requiring human resources (HR) who are not only technically competent but also equipped with strong soft skills. This study aims to analyze effective strategies for developing human resources through the strengthening of soft skills in educational institutions and organizational settings. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, the research is based on a comprehensive literature review of books, national and international journal articles, research reports, and relevant policy documents related to human resource development. Data were analyzed using content analysis to identify key themes, patterns, and strategic models of soft skill development, while source triangulation was applied to enhance the credibility and validity of the findings. The results indicate that communication, teamwork, problem solving, adaptability, resilience, and leadership are the most critical soft skills required across various sectors and job levels. The study also reveals that effective soft skill development requires integrated and sustainable strategies, including experiential training, continuous coaching and mentoring, project-based learning, integration of soft skills into formal curricula and employee onboarding programs, the reinforcement of supportive organizational culture, and the use of microlearning through digital learning pathways. Furthermore, comprehensive monitoring and evaluation mechanisms such as pre-post assessments, 360-degree feedback, performance indicators, and portfolio-based evaluation are essential to ensure measurable behavioral change and performance improvement. Despite challenges such as resistance to change, limited resources, and measurement difficulties, adaptive mitigation strategies can enhance implementation effectiveness. This study concludes that positioning soft skills as core competencies within long-term human resource development strategies is crucial for improving workforce readiness, organizational performance, and sustainability in an increasingly dynamic and uncertain work environment.
