<![CDATA[ABSTRAKTujuan artikel ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan emosi negatif dalam novel Looking for Alaska danterjemahannya Mencari Alaska dipetakan. Semantik leksikal emosi negatif dianalisis dengan menerapkanteori Metabahasa Semantik Alami (MSA) yang diusulkan oleh Wierzbicka (1996). Hasil penelitianmenunjukkan bahwa kategori emosi yang ditemukan dalam novel tersebut adalah ‘sesuatu yang buruk bisaterjadi’. Melalui pendekatan eksplikasi, leksikon itu menunjukkan fitur-fitur semantiknya. Leksikontersebut dapat dianalisis dengan menggunakan pendekatan eksplikasi untuk membuktikan bahwa keduabahasa sumber dan bahasa sasarannya menunjukkan kesetaraannya. Pendekatan NSM sangat membantudalam menentukan eksponen makna emosi negatif.Kata kunci: Emosi Negatif, NSM, EksplikasiABSTRACTThe aim of this study was to describe the negative emotions in the novel Looking for Alaska andits translation into Mencari Alaska were mapped. Its lexical semantic of negative emotions wereanalyzed by applying the theory of Natural Semantic Metalanguage (NSM) approach proposed byWierzbicka (1996). The results showed that the category of emotion found in the novel was badthings can happen. Through the explication approach, those lexicons showed their semanticfeatures. It can be analyzed using explication approach to prove that both source language andtarget language lexical items are equivalent.
