Abstract

Abstract Background: Procedural interventions in children often cause anxiety, leading to increased stress responses and discomfort during treatment. One of the non-pharmacological interventions proven effective in reducing anxiety is the use of Virtual Reality (VR) as a visual distraction method. Objective: This study aimed to determine the effect of Virtual Reality on anxiety levels in children undergoing procedural interventions. Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design involving 36 children aged 3–12 years who underwent procedural interventions. The intervention consisted of using Virtual Reality for 5– 10 minutes before and during the procedure, and anxiety levels were measured using the Modified Yale Preoperative Anxiety Scale–Short Form (m-YPAS-SF). Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test with a significance level of p < 0.05. Results: The findings showed a significant decrease in the mean anxiety score from 46.82 (SD = 11.608) to 26.06 (SD = 3.857) after the VR intervention, with a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). Virtual Reality (VR) is effective in reducing children’s anxiety during procedural interventions. Conclusion: Virtual Reality has been proven to be an effective non-pharmacological distraction method that can decrease anxiety and enhance comfort in children undergoing procedural treatments

Abstract

Abstract

Basic Life Support (BLS) is an activity to clear the patient's airways, assist breathing, and maintain blood flow without the use of assistive devices. This assistance must be carried out quickly and precisely, because if the assistance is not appropriate it can cause disability, even worse, the patient can die. The purpose of this community service is to increase students' knowledge about BLS and motivation to help. The method used is education and lectures. The population in the community service is students at Tunas Harapan Vocational School, totaling 63 students with several existing problems. The results of the survey on students still have many who do not understand BLS. And from the results of the survey and interviews, most students who do not know how to help victims of cardiac arrest and some are even afraid to help. Very low knowledge and motivation and the lack of information from medical personnel regarding BLS are obstacles and problems. Therefore, it is necessary to provide education and understanding of BLS. The results showed that students experienced an increase in their knowledge of Basic Life Support (BLS) from good knowledge at 7.94% to 46.03%, and their motivation to help cardiac arrest victims increased from good knowledge at 4.76% to 58.73%. This education and motivation can provide information to students and teachers of the school so they can provide assistance to cardiac arrest victims.

Abstract

Background: Indonesia is prone to natural disasters such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, floods, and landslides. Landslides are the movement of masses of soil or rock from slopes, usually caused by heavy rainfall, earthquakes, or human activity. Jenawi District has varied topography, ranging from hills to mountainous areas. This place has a variety of heights, ranging from slopes to very steep areas. This area also has slopes ranging from 15-30% and high annual rainfall.Aims: To increase knowledge of landslide disaster mitigation. The population for this community service program is residents of Jenawi Village.Method: Focus Group Discussion (FGD) was used. The population consisted of 55 men and women from Jenawi Village. Jenawi District has many steep slopes and receives significant rainfall. This situation results in widespread erosion, soil decomposition, and landslides. Based on this identification, Mitra Husada Karanganyar Health College aims to educate residents about landslides and disaster-responsive villages. Results: The community service activities ran smoothly, and understanding of landslides and disaster response increased by 76,4%.Conclusion: Community knowledge about landslide mitigation has increased, but true knowledge is inseparable from education.
