Abstract

Abstract The purpose of research is to find out comptence of students’ vocabulary mastery before and after taught by using elicitation technique and to find out the effectiveness of using elicitation technique before and after in students’ vocabulary mastery at the third semester of English Language Education STKIP PGRI Nganjuk . The methodology of research is experimental research, one group pre-test post-test design. The research was conducted at STKIP PGRI Nganjuk, at the academic year of 2020/2021 by using the samples at the third semester of English Language Education class by number of class is 26 students. In completing the research, the technique of data collection used test. Analysis of the data is used t-test. Based on the table above it could be seen that tcount had greater than ttable at level of significant. tcount is 11, 47 an ttable on the significant level of 5% is 2.04523. Based on the results of analysis that tcount > ttable there is effectiveness to develop the students’ vocabulary mastery before and after being taught using elicitation technique at the third semester of English Language Education STKIP PGRI Nganjuk at the 2020/2021 academic year. The hypothesis is Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. That is : “ There is effectiveness between teaching vocabulary using Elicitation Technique and teaching vocabulary without using Elicitation Technique to enhance students’ vocabulary mastery at the third semester of English Language Education STKIP PGRI Nganjuk at the 2020/2021 academic year.

Abstract

Reading comprehension is one of the important skills in English language learning. However, there are still many students who experience difficulties in reading comprehension. Students have difficulty answering questions related to reading such as lack of interest in reading, difficulty in interpreting context and making conclusions in the text. The aims of this research are :To find out there any significant different before and after being taught by using RRB (Round Robin Brainstorming) Cooperative Learning method in the teaching reading. The research is Quasi Experimental research with a quantitative approach . The design used in this research is pre-test and post-test (One Group Pre-Test and Post-Test). This research was conducted at SMKN 1 Nganjuk in the 2023/2024 school year, using a population of all tenth grade classes, the sample used by researchers was class X Geomatic 2 consisting of 35 students. The sampling technique used convenience sampling. Data collection in this research using tests. The data analysis technique used in this study used the t-test. The results of this research showed that students obtained an average pre-test score of 53.42 and an average post-test score of 83.71. Based on the results of the analysis obtained the value of t-count = 15.60 and t-table = 1.691, t-count> t-table which means there is Ha accepted and H0 rejected. So “There is significant different before and after being taught by using RRB (Round Robin Brainstorming) Cooperative Learning method effectiveness to improve students’ reading comprehension of tenth grade at SMK Negeri 1 Nganjuk in the academic year of 2023- 2024”.

Abstract

English writing ability are essential in learning English, yet many students struggle with developing these skills due to traditional teaching methods, lack of innovative strategies, and various internal and external barriers, as observed in the suboptimal English writing abilities of students in recount texts at SMK Negeri 1 Gondang. This research aims to determine the significant difference of the Herringbone Technique in improving English writing ability in recount text of tenth-grade students at SMK Negeri 1 Gondang for the academic year of 2023/2024. This research employs a mixed method with a randomized pretest-posttest control group design to measure the effectiveness of the Herringbone Technique in improving recount text English writing ability among tenth-grade students at SMK Negeri 1 Gondang. The sample consists of students from class X-TKR1 with the total is 36 students, selected using convenience sampling. Data were collected through English writing ability tests, questionnaires, and interviews, and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics to determine the effectiveness of the interventionThe findings indicate a significant difference in students' English writing ability after using the Herringbone Method. The average pretest score was 75.97, while the average posttest score increased to 87.33. The t-test results showed a tcount of 45.44 with a ttable of 1.679 at a significance level of 0.05, indicating a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores. The average score improvement was 11.36, which corresponds to a 14.95% improvement, demonstrating the effectiveness of the Herringbone Method as a learning aid. The Herringbone Method significantly difference in the students' Englih writing ability, with scores rising from 75 to 87. This indicates its effectiveness in enhancing English writing ability. Further research is needed to explore its long-term impact and broader applications.

Abstract

Reading is the process of constructing meaning from written texts, which involves not only recognizing words but also understanding, interpreting, and connecting information with prior knowledge to achieve comprehension. This study investigates the effectiveness of the Reciprocal Teaching method in improving students’ reading comprehension of narrative texts. The research was conducted at SMK NU Pace with eleventh- grade students of class XI TKJ-2 in the academic year 2024/2025. A pre-experimental design with one group pre- test and post-test was applied, involving 30 students as the sample. Data were collected through reading comprehension tests and analyzed using a paired sample t-test.The results showed that the students’ mean score improved from 47.14 in the pre-test to 76.96 in the post-test. The significance value obtained was 0.000 (p < 0.05), confirming a significant difference before and after the implementation of Reciprocal Teaching. These findings prove that Reciprocal Teaching, supported by Padlet as a collaborative medium, is effective in enhancing students’ reading comprehension, critical thinking, and learning engagement.
