Abstract

Indonesia's urbanization issue ranks fourth in Southeast Asia. Urbanization correlates with a 1% increase in emissions for every 1% increase in the population. In the building sector, this trend will increase the demand for building construction, impacting building resources such as power plants (energy sector). The energy sector contributes the highest carbon emissions at 94.64%. This rise in carbon emissions can hinder the goal of reducing emissions by 29% by 2030. The Nearly Zero Emission Building (NZEB) approach is proposed as a solution for energy efficiency. The NZEB approach involves steps during the pre-construction phase using passive strategies and post-construction with active strategies through building operations to reduce building energy needs. This research uses a qualitative method based on three standards from three countries with different climates to review the implementation results. The analysis results show three strategies: passive strategies (orientation, natural lighting, and ventilation), active strategies (Building Management Systems (BMS), renewable energy use, and building materials), and alignment with Green Building to maximize this approach. In Indonesia, alignment with the Green Building Council Indonesia (GBCI) is necessary. GBCI has designed Greenship "Net Zero," focusing on assessments such as air quality, natural openings, and carbon emission reduction calculations. This will help quantitatively reduce carbon emissions in the building sector.

Abstract

Panjang Utara Village was selected as a Disaster Resilient Village by the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and the Bandar Lampung Government in 2023. However, this has not yet been implemented due to the lack of data collection on the area's morphology that supports disaster mitigation. In general, the morphology that forms an area can be identified based on land use, road patterns, building forms, and open spaces as a basis for determining structural mitigation strategies. This study aims to analyze the morphology of residential areas in supporting the disaster mitigation strategy in Panjang Utara Village. This study uses a qualitative descriptive analysis method with figure ground theory. Secondary data collection consists of studies of regional spatial planning documents and area profiles. Meanwhile, primary data consists of satellite imagery from remote sensing processed with a Geographic Information System (GIS) and field observations. Land use morphology is dominated by the Panjang port area, settlements, infrastructure, hills and green open space, as well as trade and services. Several building and land typologies are used as temporary evacuation sites (TES), such as meeting halls, open fields, hills, and schools. The building's texture is homogeneous, indicating high density. The road network pattern is spinal, branching with tiered dimensions. The road network pattern and road width are considerations in determining disaster evacuation routes. The form of public open space functions as a TES in hill areas and open fields.
