Abstract

The study comprises dynotest design and analysis to measure torque and horsepower. Basically, a dynotest carried out by apply certain load to the axle of a combustion motor through the braking mechanism of its crankshaft. Due to the high price of a Dynotest unit in the market, it is relatively difficult for a developing institution to own it on their site. The study target to design a simple and good accurate Dynotest within a reasonable price. The study used a common standard method for design analysis which rely on function and structural approach. Functionally, Dynotest is designed to be used to an ouput of an electical motor. Loading on motor shaft was done by disc brake braking mechanism. Structurally, Dynotest was designed to use rollers. As a main component, its mounting construction is connected to a motor to generate electrical power. Power transmitted from the motor to Dynotest through a center joint shaft, torque measured by load cell while the rotation of shaft itself counted by a digital tachometer. Test result show that electricity was produced from the simple construction and Dynotest functioned well in measuring it. Measurement data of roller support shaft performance showed a motor torque performance curve which are similar with the typical of similar Dynotest. Construction Test done by applying Solid Work software analysis to some components partially on rollers and on the construction assembly as a whole unit

Abstract

The conversion of conventional motor vehicles to electric vehicles has become a popular choice in an effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution from transportation. Electric vehicle conversion involves replacing a gasoline or diesel engine with an electric motor and a reinstalled battery. In this paper, we cover the basics of electric vehicle conversion, conversion methods, and trial results of converted electric vehicles. We also discuss the benefits and challenges of converting to electric vehicles. Some keywords related to this topic include: electric vehicles, vehicle conversion, electric motors, batteries, sustainable transportation.

Abstract

The Cummins QSL 9.3L diesel engine is a production engine from CLG or Cummins Liugong. This type of engine is typically used in heavy equipment such as Wheel Loaders. A diesel engine is an internal combustion engine where the combustion process occurs inside the engine itself, and pure air is compressed within the combustion chamber, resulting in high air pressure. It operates in four strokes. This engine experienced low power, causing it to malfunction, which led to abnormal operation. Various checks were conducted, including inspection of diesel fuel, fuel tank inspection, engine oil level check, visual inspection of the air cleaner, water separator check, Fuel Feed Pump check, and Clearance Valve Lash check. The problem identified was the mismatch of Valve Lash clearance in the engine, resulting in low power. The repair step involved adjusting the Valve lash using a Feeler Gauge. The purpose of this research is to provide an explanation of troubleshooting and to perform repairs on engines experiencing low power

Abstract

Dynamometer testing (dynotest) is essential for evaluating electric vehicle (EV) performance under controlled laboratory conditions, enabling repeatable measurement of power, torque, efficiency, and energy consumption while emulating real-world driving cycles. This review surveys recent developments in EV dynotesting, highlighting IEEE and international test standards, key performance parameters, and evolving methodologies. We compare chassis and hub dyno architectures, including new “vehicle-in-the-loop” and modular test benches, and discuss integration of hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation for real-time controller validation. Standardized drive cycles (e.g. WLTP, EPA/UDDS, JC08) are widely used on dynos to benchmark EV energy use. We summarize representative studies that apply dynotests to EV powertrains, including single-motor and dual-/multi-motor drivetrains. Emerging challenges are reviewed: bidirectional (regen) energy flow, thermal management under high load, synchronization of multiple drive units and batteries, and specialized needs for all-wheel-drive (AWD) and multi-motor EV testing. The review concludes that comprehensive dynotest methods, combined with rigorous standards, HIL integration, and advanced data analysis, are critical for validating next-generation EV drivetrains and enabling accurate energy-consumption benchmarking. Future work should address remaining gaps in multi-axis dyno platforms, long-term durability tests, and AI-driven real-time analysis during dyno runs.
