Abstract

Enrekang is a regency in South Sulawesi Province. This study focuses on a section of the Sidrap-Enrekang Highway that features a curve prone to traffic accidents—marked by warning signs near the Maiwa Sector Police Station—connecting Enrekang City to Tana Toraja. The study aims to evaluate the road's geometry in relation to accident risks to ensure comfortable passage for road users. The methodology involved site surveys, data collection, and data processing to derive a relevant analysis. The findings indicate a Spiral-Circle-Spiral (SCS) curve configuration, with an existing vehicle speed (V) of 38 km/h and a superelevation of 2.85%. Based on the 1997 Bina Marga standards for flat terrain, the existing speed of 38 km/h falls below the applicable standard range of 70–120 km/h, and the superelevation of 2.85% is well below the 10% maximum; thus, the existing speed and superelevation comply with the 1997 Bina Marga standards (specifically the *Procedures for Inter-City Road Geometric Design*). Consequently, it is concluded that road geometry is not the factor contributing to the accident-prone nature of the Enrekang Highway.
