Abstract

Stunting remains a critical public health and nutritional issue in Indonesia. Providing proper nutrition is a key strategy for preventing stunting. Processing local catfish into nuggets offers a simple, appealing option that children enjoy. Cadres play a vital role in connecting with the community to prevent stunting through innovations involving local fish products. This community service initiative aimed to enhance the knowledge and capacity of these volunteers acting as agents of change regarding the use of local food resources, while simultaneously supporting stunting prevention efforts through promotion and early intervention. The program consisted of a series of activities in Cempaka Urban Village, including health and nutrition education, demonstrations, and packaging techniques. Pre- and post-test results indicated an increase in the volunteers' knowledge following the educational sessions, and they were able to successfully demonstrate the process of making catfish nuggets. Health education and demonstrations proved effective in improving thecadres’s knowledge and skills. There is a need for similar initiatives that reach a wider audience of women.
