Abstract

This research investigates the development and implementation of a contingency planning model that integrates the participation of children. Specifically, it centers on a case study involving the eruption of Mount Merapi in the communities of Glagaharjo and Purwobinangun. The study aims to assess the effectiveness and relevance of engaging children in disaster preparedness and response efforts, particularly in areas prone to volcanic activity. The study assesses the extent to which child participation enhances the overall resilience and adaptability of these communities during volcanic eruptions. A qualitative research method involving focus group interviews (FGI). In findings, model was proposed to improve the significance of incorporating child perspectives and contributions in contingency planning processes. Simple cycle model is developed and expected to be implemented based on the needs and the saturation of information obtained from the child group, ensuring that the information and opinions can be beneficial for the contingency planning process.

Abstract

Pesisir selatan Pulau Jawa merupakan wilayah rawan tsunami, kondisi ini mendorong upaya penilaian ketangguhan yang dilakukan sejak 2019 oleh BNPB untuk menguji ketangguhan desa secara khusus pada bencana tsunami. Sebagaimana wilayah lain di pesisir selatan Pulau Jawa, Kabupaten Bantul memiliki risiko tinggi, begitu pula Desa Parangtritis dan Desa Tirtohargo. Kedua desa ini secara purposif dipilih untuk perbandingan dikarenakan kedua desa ini memiliki tingkat risiko yang sama tingginya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan nilai ketangguhan kedua desa berdasarkan penilaian pada tahun 2019 dan 2020 yang menggunakan perangkat Penilaian Ketangguhan Bencana Desa/Kelurahan, serta mengeksplorasi secara kualitatif faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi nilai ketangguhan dan perubahannya atas nilai ketangguhan kedua desa tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif. Perbandingan nilai ketangguhan disajikan dengan naratif dan tabel perbandingan berdasarkan komponen-komponen yang ada, dan eksplorasi digali melalui wawancara mendalam atas pihak-pihak yang turut membangun ketangguhan di desa. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa dalam perbandingan nilai, terjadi penurunan nilai ketangguhan di Desa Parangtritis dari kategori Desa Tangguh Utama menjadi Desa Tangguh Madya, sedangkan terjadi kenaikan pada Desa Tirtohargo dari kategori Desa Tangguh Madya menjadi Desa Tangguh Utama. Ketangguhan yang keduanya diatas rata-rata tersebut dipengaruhi oleh; pengalaman dan pembelajaran peristiwa Gempa 2006, kuatnya nilai gotong royong dan kemandirian, inisiatif masyarakat melalui Forum PRB Desa, peran pemerintah desa, dukungan pemerintah daerah maupun pusat, kontribusi organisasi-organisasi non pemerintah, dan ketersediaan anggaran desa. Penelitian ini mencatat bahwa penegakan prosedur penilaian dan pemahaman penilaian untuk fasilitator dan peserta juga mempengaruhi perubahan nilai yang dihasilkan.

Abstract

ANALYSIS OF ENVIRONMENTAL DAMAGE DUE TO SAND MINING IN THE PROGO RIVER Mining activities can significantly impact the physical environment, particularly in areas close to critical infrastructures such as rivers and residential buildings. This research purposively choose a corporation mining activities in the Progo River to being evaluated in the context of envionmental damage. This study aims to assess the extent of environmental damage in and around of corporation mining concession area, specifically focusing on river degradation, erosion, and structural instability. The goal is to classify the damage according to established environmental criteria and determine the severity of the impact. The research utilized aerial photographs, satellite imagery, and photos obtained from drones. These were first processed using photogrammetry software, followed by geometric correction on the images to eliminate perspective distortion and topographic tilt, resulting in an accurate orthophoto. The orthophoto was then analyzed spatially using a Geographic Information System (GIS).. The assessment was carried out using the criteria and benchmarks provided by the Governor's Decree of the Special Region of Yogyakarta No. 63 of 2003. The findings indicate significant environmental damage due to PT A’s mining activities. River flow changes were identified, with a shift to a meandering pattern and the formation of deep troughs in the riverbed. Based on the analysis, the environmental damage caused by PT A’s mining activities falls into the category of severe damage. The degradation of the river, erosion of land, and instability of nearby infrastructure necessitate urgent attention and mitigation efforts to prevent further environmental harm.
