Abstract

Seagrass meadows have ecological roles such as habitats of other organisms, as primary producers in shallow waters, as substrates stabilizer, as well as carbon storage. The seagrass meadow community structure and condition of Darunu Village Waters has never been reported. The study purposes are to find out and analyze seagrass species abundance, community structure and diversity index. Data collection of seagrass community structure was taken using the line transect method. Three 100 m line transects were laid from the coast perpendicular to the sea. The distance between each transect is 50m . Then the data was taken using a 50 x 50 cm2 quadrant. The quadrat was placed from 0 m to 100m and the distance between each quadrat was 10 meters. This study found 6 types of seagrasses, namely Enhalus acoroides, Thalassia hemprichii, Cymodocea rotundata, Halophila ovalis, Halodule pinifilia, and Syringodium isoetifolium. The diversity index of seagrass species at the research site was moderate (1 ≤ H' ≤ 3 diversity of medium species). Keywords: Darunu Village, Community Structure, Padang Lamun. ABSTRAK Kawasan ekosistem padang lamun yang ada di Perairan Desa Darunu sampai saat ini belum pernah ada informasi tentang keadaan struktur komunitas lamun yang ada disana. Padang lamun memiliki nilai ekologis seperti habitat organisme lain, produsen primer di perairan dangkal, penstabil substrat, dan bahkan penyimpan karbon di perairan dangkal. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui jenis-jenis lamun apa saja yang terdapat di perairan Desa Darunu dan juga untuk mengetahui gambaran dari struktur komunitas lamun yang ada di perairan Desa Darunu. Pengambilan data bioekolgi lamun struktur komunitas diambil dengan menggunakan metode line transect yang ditarik tegak lurus ke arah laut menjauhi pantai dengan jarak sejauh 100 meter, kemudian dilakukan pengamatan menggunakan kuadran cm2 yang sebelumnya sudah diletakkan pada titik awal 0 meter sampai dengan seterusnya di sepanjang garis transek dengan jarak antar kuadran yaitu 10 meter. Hasil penelitian menemukan 6 jenis lamun yaitu Enhalus acoroides, Thalassia hemprichii, Cymodocea rotundata, Halophila ovalis, Halodule pinifilia, Syringodium isoetifoliumKeanekaragaman jenis lamun di lokasi penelitian berdasarkan Shannon-Wiener memiliki tingkat keanekaragaman sedang (1 ≤ H’ ≤ 3 keanekaragaman spesies sedang). Abstract

  Baseline information on intertidal gastropod assemblages is critical for managing tropical shorelines subject to growing recreational pressure. This study quantified species composition, density and diversity of gastropods along the intertidal zone of the Tasik Ria Beach Tourism Area, North Sulawesi, Indonesia. Sampling was conducted once at low tide along three 13 m land‑to‑sea transects spaced 50 m apart. Five 1 × 1 m quadrats were placed at 2 m intervals along each transect. Epifaunal gastropods were hand‑collected, while infaunal taxa were excavated to a depth of ~25 cm; all specimens were preserved in 70 % ethanol and identified using regional monographs and the World Register of Marine Species.A total of 24 gastropod species were recorded. Mean densities at the three stations were within ranges typically associated with minimally disturbed sandy‑muddy shores, indicating that habitat remains in comparatively good condition. Shannon–Wiener diversity values (H′) fell within the low‑to‑moderate category, whereas Simpson dominance coefficients (C) were moderate at all stations, reflecting the numerical prominence of Nassarius pullus. The assemblage structure suggests a moderately healthy intertidal community that is beginning to show signs of faunal dominance. Continued periodic recommended to detect potential shifts attributable to intensifying tourism, and to inform evidence‑based coastal management and conservation strategies. Keywords: Gastropods, density, diversity, dominance, and tourist area   Abstrak Informasi dasar tentang komunitas gastropoda di zona pasang surut sangat penting untuk mengelola pantai tropis yang menghadapi tekanan rekreasi yang meningkat. Riset ini mengukur komposisi spesies, kepadatan, dan keragaman gastropoda di zona pasang surut Area Wisata Pantai Tasik Ria, Sulawesi Utara, Indonesia. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan sekali saat air surut sepanjang tiga transek darat-ke-laut berukuran 13 m dan berjarak 50 m satu sama lain. Lima kuadrat berukuran 1 × 1 m ditempatkan dengan jarak 2 m di sepanjang setiap transect. Gastropoda yang hidup di permukaan dikumpulkan secara manual, sementara taksa infaunal digali hingga kedalaman ~25 cm; semua spesimen diawetkan dalam etanol 70% dan diidentifikasi menggunakan monografi regional dan World Register of Marine Species.Total 24 spesies gastropoda tercatat. Kepadatan rata-rata di tiga stasiun berada dalam rentang yang umumnya terkait dengan pantai berpasir-berlumpur yang minim gangguan, menunjukkan bahwa habitat masih dalam kondisi relatif baik. Nilai keragaman Shannon–Wiener (H′) berada dalam kategori rendah hingga sedang, sedangkan koefisien dominansi Simpson (C) moderat, mencerminkan dominasi numerik Nassarius pullus. Struktur komunitas menunjukkan komunitas intertidal yang sehat namun mulai menunjukkan tanda-tanda dominasi fauna. Pemantauan berkala direkomendasikan untuk mendeteksi pergeseran potensial akibat pariwisata, serta mendukung strategi pengelolaan dan konservasi pesisir berbasis bukti. Abstract

Abalone (Haliotis varia) is a marine gastropod commonly known as a seven-eyed shell or sea snail. It serves as an important source of marine protein and plays a significant economic role for coastal communities. The abalone has been caught easily by fisherman.  As a result, the abalone population might decrease.  However, there has been limited information of its population in nature up to now. This study aimed to assess the species, density, size, and distribution pattern of abalone in the intertidal zone of Tanjung Likupang, North Sulawesi. Sampling was conducted using the quadrat transect method, with six 25×25 meter (625 m²) placed at two different sites. Each site had 3 replicated.  The results showed variations in abalone density between the two locations. Site 2 had a higher mean density (9.67 individuals/625 m² or 0.02 individuals/m²) compared to Site 1 (7 individuals/625 m² or 0.01 individuals/m²). Size variation at site 1 ranged from 32.9 mm to 52.1 mm (average 40.59 mm), while Site 2 ranged from 20.3 mm to 44 mm (average 38.78 mm). However, statistical analysis indicated no significant difference in both average density and shell length between the two sites. Morisita’s index value was approximately 1 for both locations, suggesting a random distribution pattern. These findings provide a preliminary understanding of the current status of abalone populations in Tanjung Likupang. Keywords: Abalone, Haliotis varia, density, size distribution   Abstrak Abalon (Haliotis varia) merupakan gastropoda laut yang dikenal sebagai sumber protein dan bernilai ekonomi tinggi bagi masyarakat pesisir. Abalone mudah ditangkap di alam oleh nelayan.  Hingga populasinya dihipotesa telah menurun di alam.  Namun informasi tentang popualsi abalone adalah masih terbatas sampai saat ini.  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis, kepadatan, ukuran, dan pola distribusi abalon di daerah pasang surut Tanjung Likupang, Sulawesi Utara. Metode yang digunakan adalah transek kuadrat, dengan ukuran 25x25 m (625 m²) ditemaptkan di 2 lokasi.  Maisng-masing lokasi memiliki 3 replikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya variasi kepadatan abalon antara kedua lokasi. Lokasi 2 memiliki kepadatan rata-rata lebih tinggi (9,67 individu/625 m² atau 0,02 individu/m²) dibandingkan dengan lokasi 1 (7 individu/625 m² atau 0,01 individu/m²). Ukuran panjang abalon di lokasi 1 berkisar antara 32,9 mm hingga 52,1 mm, dengan rata-rata 40,59 mm, sedangkan di lokasi 2 berkisar antara 20,3 mm hingga 44 mm, dengan rata-rata 38,78 mm. Meskipun terdapat perbedaan angka, uji statistik menunjukkan tidak ada perbedaan signifikan dalam kepadatan maupun ukuran panjang antara dua lokasi. Nilai indeks Morisita di kedua lokasi mendekati 1, mengindikasikan pola distribusi individu abalon bersifat acak.
