Abstract

Many misconceptions occur to students due to their low analytical skills. Misconceptions can occur in some courses that have abstract concepts. These concepts are difficult to understand and are interrelated with each other, so they require in-depth analysis. Analysis and in-depth understanding of biological concepts are needed in plant physiology courses. The research that has been conducted is a descriptive study with purpose to analyze and describe the level of understanding of student concepts on photosynthesis material. The subjects of this study were 30 biology education students at Padang State University (UNP) who took plant physiology classes in the 2022/2023 academic year. Students who have a good understanding of the concept are 10.87%, complete misconceptions are 23, 24%, false positive misconceptions are 22.54% and false negative misconceptions are 21.75%. These findings are expected to be used as a reference for lecturers teaching plant physiology courses to maximize concept understanding in learning.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengoptimalkan kreativitas siswa dalam pembelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (IPA) melalui penerapan tugas komik. Latar belakang penelitian ini didasarkan pada observasi di MTs S PPM DINIYYAH PASIA, Kabupaten Agam, Sumatera Barat, yang mengidentifikasi beberapa permasalahan dalam pembelajaran IPA, seperti minimnya sumber belajar, keterbatasan penggunaan gadget, dan rendahnya minat baca siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan model Kemmis and Mc.Taggart, meliputi tahapan perencanaan, tindakan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada nilai kreativitas siswa setelah penerapan tugas komik, dengan rata-rata nilai kreativitas meningkat dari 61,6 (kategori rendah) menjadi 91,02 (kategori sangat baik). Strategi yang efektif untuk mengoptimalkan penerapan tugas komik mencakup integrasi materi IPA dengan komik, penggunaan media yang beragam, pendampingan intensif, kolaborasi antar siswa, evaluasi dan refleksi berkala, serta penghargaan atas karya terbaik

Abstract

In science learning, it is necessary to emphasize learning that refers to direct experience so that it can provide space for students to develop the ability to think, work and act scientifically in an integrated manner. To cultivate these thinking skills, a learning model is needed. One learning model that can improve students' thinking skills is Project Based Learning. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of Project Based Learning on students' thinking skills in science learning. The research method used is systematic literature review. The data used in this study were obtained from previous research, in the form of articles related to the Project Based Learning learning model and students' thinking skills. The results of the study show that some previous research literature has proven that project based learning can be applied to science learning and plays a role in improving students' thinking skills, both higher order, critical, and creative thinking skills.

Abstract

Abstract: One of the success factors of students in learning is the use of innovative learning models and motivation to learn in students. One learning model that can increase student learning motivation is the Project Based Learning (PjBL) learning model. The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of the Project Based Learning learning model in increasing student motivation. The research method used is systematic literature review. The data used in this study were obtained from previous research, in the form of articles related to the Project Based Learning learning model and student motivation. The results of the analysis of several articles show that there is an effect of project based learning on student motivation, both in elementary school students and high school students. This increase in motivation is also supported by the enthusiasm of students in working on projects in learning. The project carried out is a fun thing for students. Therefore, it can be concluded that the project based learning learning model has an effect on increasing student motivation

Abstract

The problem found at this time is the lack of motivation in students so that it has an impact on learning outcomes. One solution to overcome these problems is to use a learning model that can improve students' abilities and motivation. The PjBL model provides opportunities for teachers to manage learning in class by involving project work (activities), so students will be trained to have good thinking skills and generate motivation in students. This study aims to examine the use of project based learning learning models in science learning to improve students' abilities and motivation. The research method used is systematic literature review. The data used in this study were obtained from previous research, in the form of articles related to the Project Based Learning learning model. The results of the research by analyzing several articles show that the use of the Project Based Learning learning model in science learning can improve students' abilities and motivation in learning.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh penerapan model pembelajaran Creative Problem Solving (CPS) terintegrasi Socio-Scientific Issue (SSI) terhadap kemampuan berpikir kreatif peserta didik kelas VII MTsN 1 Kota Padang. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain Nonequivalent Control Group Design yang melibatkan kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui tes kemampuan berpikir kreatif berupa pretest dan posttest, lembar observasi keterlaksanaan pembelajaran, dan angket respons peserta didik. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, dan uji t. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterlaksanaan model CPS terintegrasi SSI berada pada kategori sangat baik dengan persentase sebesar 94,7%. Hasil uji hipotesis menunjukkan bahwa nilai thitung > ttabel (3,139 > 2,000), sehingga terdapat pengaruh penerapan model CPS terintegrasi SSI terhadap kemampuan berpikir kreatif peserta didik. Selain itu, respons peserta didik terhadap pembelajaran berada pada kategori sangat baik dengan persentase sebesar 90,50%. Dengan demikian, model pembelajaran CPS terintegrasi SSI dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif peserta didik.

Abstract

Science education in schools today still faces various challenges, one of which is students’ low conceptual understanding, which impacts their learning. Students tend to memorize material without understanding its meaning, the relationships between concepts, and their application in daily life. This situation is exacerbated by a teaching approach that remains teacher-centered. As a result, students’ engagement in thinking, speaking, and writing about what they understand has not yet reached an optimal level. The Think Talk Write (TTW) learning model is an alternative that can be used to address this issue. This study is quantitative and employs a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. Purposive sampling was used to determine the sample. The results of the hypothesis test showed that the significance value was 0.005, which is less than the significance level of 0.05 (p < 0.05). Therefore, H₀ was rejected and H₁ was accepted, indicating that the implementation of the TTW learning model has a significant effect on students’ conceptual understanding. In the class that used the TTW model, students’ conceptual understanding was better than in the class that used the conventional model. Teacher activities and student activities each accounted for 93%. The implementation of the TTW model was rated as “very good.”

Abstract

Kemampuan berpikir kritis merupakan salah satu kompetensi abad ke-21 yang harus dikembangkan dalam pembelajaran IPA, namun kenyataan di lapangan menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan tersebut pada peserta didik SMP masih tergolong rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning berbantuan Edpuzzle terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik pada materi Pencemaran Lingkungan dan Perubahan Iklim. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dan metode eksperimen semu (quasi experiment). Desain kelompok kontrol pre-test dan post-test dirancang menggunakan pendekatan ini. Sampel ditentukan secara purposive sampling, yaitu kelas VII.A sebagai kelompok eksperimen yang belajar dengan PBL berbantuan Edpuzzle dan kelas VII.B sebagai kelompok kontrol yang belajar dengan PBL tanpa Edpuzzle. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterlaksanaan pembelajaran berada pada kategori yang sangat baik dengan rata-rata 94%. Uji hipotesis pada data posttest memperoleh t-hitung sebesar 3,28 yang melampaui t-tabel 1,99 sehingga ditolak, yang membuktikan bahwa model PBL berbantuan Edpuzzle berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik. Rata-rata setelah posttest di kelas eksperimen (81,53) juga lebih tinggi daripada kelas kontrol (76,42), dengan peningkatan tampak pada seluruh indikator berpikir kritis, terutama pada aspek analisis dan interpretasi. Angket respons peserta didik menunjukkan tanggapan positif sebesar 83% pada kategori sangat baik. Dengan demikian, integrasi Edpuzzle ke dalam sintaks PBL terbukti efektif digunakan dalam pembelajaran IPA untuk mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low critical thingking skills of students and the suboptimal application of health literacy in science learning. Learning that is still conventional causes student to be less active and unable to analyze and solve health problems independently. This study to analyze the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model based on health literacy on the critical thinking skills of eighth grade students of SMPN 21 Padang. The type of research used is quantitative with a quasi-eksperimental method and a non-equivalent control group design. The sample consisted of 32 students in each experimental and control class. The instruments used included critical thinking tests, observation sheets, and student respons questionnaires. The results showed that the PBL model based on health literacy had a significant effect on students' critical thinking skills. Observation of the implementation of the PBL model obtained a percentage of 96% with a very good category and student responses of 79% with a good category. The results of the hypothesis test using the t test obtained a value of t_count> t_table, namely 5.71> 2.00 so that was rejected and was accepted.
