Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of instilling awareness of the importance of protecting the environment from an early age. Strengthening character in environmental care has a positive impact on the survival of the next generation. The behaviour of not caring about the destruction of nature as a result of human actions is very dangerous if it is passed on to the younger generation, so it is necessary to strengthen the character of environmental care from an early age.  This research aims to provide the right choice of literary ecological literacy material as an effort to strengthen the character of environmental care in students in elementary schools. Imaginary characters in literary works become real examples for student character development. Strengthening the character of environmental care based on moral values in folklore needs to be conveyed so that students will have character intelligence to care for their environment. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods and literature study of story narratives, character behaviour, and dialogue and monologue sequences that illustrate the value of character education. The subject of this research is the folktale The Great Kapok Tree Tree: A Tale of The Amazon Rain Forest by Lynne Cherry. The findings show that The Great Kapok Tree folktale represents the values of environmental care in realising character strengthening including: environmental care as a system and awareness in environmental development. Thus, the folklore of The Kapok Tree contains the values of environmental care character education so that it can be an alternative solution for reading material on meaningful literary literacy.

The sample was selected through cluster random sampling by only taking one class consisting of 30 students from a class 7 population of 92 students. Data was collected using pre-test and post-test with 10 questions. The results of this research analysis showed that sig. value is known. (2-tailed) of 0.000. the sig. (2-tailed) < 0.05 or 0.000 < 0.05 the hypothesis H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted because there is a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test learning outcomes. So from these results it can be concluded that the pre test and post test data are normally distributed and there is an influence of the use of multimodal texts in developing students' reading comprehension in English learning.

Abstract

This article aims to demonstrate how to influence students speaking skills through TFLAT application. This study used a quantitative method with pre-Experimental research design. The pre-test and post-test were both instruments as collecting data. The population was one class of eleven grade from SMK Muhammadiyah 02 Tangerang Selatan. The t-test was used for statistical analysis of the data. The analysis findings indicate that students averaged a score of 78.40. According to the statistical calculations show, the results to (t-value) > t (t-table) obtained are 19,365 while the t-table is 2,080 with a significant level of 5% (0.05) because the t-value is higher than the t-table than the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted while the (H0) was rejected. Based on the results of this analysis study concludes that TFLAT application is an effective application to influence students’ pronunciation ability.

TikTok is one of the media facilities that is quite popular with students, because by using TikTok, students can develop their creativity in creating content such as making videos about writing vocabulary in English. The aim of this research is to find out whether there is a difference in satisfaction in learning English at Budi Luhur High School via social media TikTok, especially with the accounts @nofreeadi10 and @mr.johnhiday. Researchers made differences in satisfaction using the Uses and Gratification theory, this theory was redeveloped by Philp Palmgreen who divided satisfaction into two, namely satisfaction sought (Gratification Sought) and satisfaction obtained (Gratification Obtained). The research methodology used is quantitative with descriptive analysis and the differences with inferential statistic (t-test). The method used is a survey method using a questionnaire as the instrument. The sample used in this research was 100 out of 142 students. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique used is the t-test and mean comparison test. The results of this research showed that the data obtained was sig 0.000 with a sig level of 0.05 (sig 0.000 < 0.05). The results can be concluded, there is a difference in satisfaction via TikTok accounts @nofreeadi10 and @mr.johnhiday in learning English.
