Abstract

There are various ways that individuals or groups do to be able to meet their needs. These methods are known as survival strategies. Farm workers in Bandar Tongging Village, Merek District, Karo Regency are a group of people who have a low economy. Efforts made by farmers to meet basic needs by strengthening their business by taking advantage of existing opportunities, despite their weaknesses or limitations. Basic needs in the form of food, clothing, housing, health, and education needs. This study aims to find out about the strategies used by farm workers so that they can survive. Data collection techniques were carried out by literature study, observation, interviews, and documentation. The data obtained in the field are then analyzed qualitatively to obtain conclusions. The results of this study also show how the family of farm workers in the strategy carried out to meet basic needs by using an active strategy, namely by looking for additional income by doing side jobs, and employing family members who are of working age. The passive strategy is to save on the food menu they consume daily, stop giving their children formula milk, not buy new clothes, and even send their children to public schools.

Abstract

Subsektor perkebunan kopi merupakan salah satu sektor pertanian yang memberikan kontribusi pendapatan terbesar bagi negara. Namun petani kopi di Desa Bangun masih membutuhkan pelatihan dan pendampingan dalam mengelola tanaman kopi dengan melibatkan peran beberapa pihak seperti LSM. Lembaga Maspigas merupakan lembaga yang melakukan program pemberdayaan bagi petani kopi di Desa Bangun dengan melaksanakan beberapa peran. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Desa Bangun, Kecamatan Parbuluan. Peran yang dilakukan oleh lembaga Maspigas antara lain sebagai motivator, fasilitator, pendidik, broker, dan dinamisator berupa pemberdayaan yang dilakukan oleh Lembaga Maspigas di Desa Bangun berupa pemberdayaan ekonomi dan pemberdayaan sosial yang sudah berjalan dengan baik. Petani kopi desa Bangun yang tergabung dalam kelompok Ina Nalaombok Bangun telah mampu meningkatkan perekonomian dan mengembangkan kemampuannya. Abstract

Dalam urusan kepentingan ekonomi, hubungan antara masyarakat dengan korporasi sering saling bertentangan. Salah satu contohnya konflik antara masyarakat Pangkalan Susu dengan korporasi pengelola Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Uap (PLTU) batubara di daerah mereka. Masyarakat menganggap pengoperasian PLTU telah menyebabkan kerusakan lingkungan, yang akibatnya berdampak buruk ke penghasilan dan kesehatan mereka. Penelitian dilakukan untuk menggali pengalaman masyarakat Pangkalan Susu dalam menghadapi dampak buruk pengoperasian PLTU tersebut. Sampling purposif digunakan untuk merekrut informan. Menggunakan pendekatan analisis fenomenologis interpretatif, dilakukan wawancara mendalam kepada tiga informan. Ditemukan bahwa ketidakhadiran negara dalam konflik ini membuat masyarakat makin terpuruk. Padahal Indonesia, sebagai negara kesejahteraan, perlu melindungi rakyatnya dari pengaruh buruk kapitalisme. Apalagi mayoritas masyarakat Pangkalan Susu bergantung pada alam: jika alam mereka rusak, maka penghasilan mereka juga hilang. Artikel ini ingin menjelaskan pentingnya kehadiran negara dalam konflik antara masyarakat vs. korporasi—terutama untuk melindungi masyarakat sebagai kelompok yang lebih lemah.

Abstract

Character is the psychological traits, morals, character and disposition that differentiate a person from others. Character education is related to the social structural dimension to create a social system that is conducive to individual growth. Character formation requires a relatively long and continuous process. The strategy to strengthen character education is carried out through attitudes, namely: example, enforcing discipline and habituation. It is necessary to instill in the children of the orphanage the strengthening of character education in increasing the enthusiasm for learning of the children of the orphanage so that there is an interest in reading books. This means that the children of the orphanage always do the homework given by the teacher and can appreciate the time in terms of studying. The problem solving process was carried out in the PKL II mini project activity using the group work method at the mezzo intervention level. The stages used are the general stages (General Method) as follows: Engagement, Intake & Contract, Assessment, Planning, Intervention, Evaluation and Termination. What is the focus of the client's problem solving process is their lack of interest in reading books and rarely doing the homework given by the teacher and their lack of respect for time when it comes to studying. The aim of the program has been achieved, as evidenced by the client always diligently reading books every night and always doing the homework given by the teacher and being able to respect time when it comes to studying.

Abstract

Practicum activities are one of the mandatory courses that prospective social worker students in the USU FISIP Social Welfare Study Program must take. Field Work Practice 2 is carried out in full for one semester for 1 student (full block placement). Self-confidence is the ability to be confident in the abilities we have or the ability to develop positive judgments both for ourselves and the environment around us. Of course, everyone has their own abilities, but not everyone realizes this or some people don't even believe in their abilities. Problems of not having self-confidence will hinder his development in socializing, developing his potential, getting to know himself, and other developmental tasks. This problem of lack of self-confidence is known to be the result of negative thoughts which have an impact on adolescent behavior. A person who gets self-confidence from other people feels that he is valued, respected, feels that other people are acting responsibly. Everyone needs to have self-confidence so that they understand that each individual has competencies that are useful and useful in their lives. Apart from that, self-confidence must also be at the right level, neither less nor more. The development of self-confidence has a slight change in terms of stopping comparing oneself with others and developing a more positive mindset

Abstract

Indonesia is an agricultural country with fertile agricultural land, so that most of Indonesia's population works in agriculture. The welfare of the farming community is a condition that reflects the living conditions of the community, which can be seen from the standard of living of the community. Welfare can be interpreted as the adequacy to meet their own needs. Needs that increase from year to year make people have to increase their desire to meet household needs, not only the needs for boards, clothing and food but needs such as education, health and other unexpected things later. The type of research conducted is field research which is descriptive in nature, namely describing systematically, factually and accurately regarding the facts, characteristics and relationships between the phenomena studied. Methods of data collection in this study using interviews, observation and documentation. Based on the results of the research and discussion in this study, it can be concluded that not all Zalacca farmers in Parsalakan Village feel deficient in their crops. Not all Zalacca farmers process their Zalacca if the Zalacca produced is not good. Zalacca farmers are able to fulfill their basic needs such as spiritual needs, shelter, food, clothing and health. In addition to the spiritual needs of salak farmers, they are also able to meet their psychological needs, such as education, interaction within the family and interaction with the environment in which they live. Apart from harvesting zalacca, salak farmers also have side jobs such as growing fruits, vegetables, and selling candied zalacca online.
