Abstract

The purpose of this research is to explain the epistemology of Laduni Science in al-Ghazali's perspective. There are three epistemologies in Islamic science itself, including bayani, burhani, and 'irfani. Al-Ghazali's style of thought is bayani and 'irfani. Laduni science is the hallmark of al-Ghazali's scientific thought, especially from the 'irfani aspect which is reinforced through the Al-Quran and Hadith. This research uses the library research method. The result of this research is that Laduni Science according to al-Ghazali is knowledge that is directly given by Allah Swt., without intermediaries. Laduni knowledge is only given to his servants who have devotion to Allah Swt. in totality. To get Laduni Science according to al-Ghazali, first, try to achieve all knowledge and take the most rations from the most knowledge. Second, al-riyadah al-sadiqah and al-muraqabah al-sahihah, and still fear Allah Swt. truly. Third, tafakkur when the soul has learnt some knowledge. Fourth, purifying the rabb?niyyah heart which is adorned with dhikrullah.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the ethics of students (santri) at Al-Fath Student Islamic Boarding School from the perspective of Plato's ethics. Al-Fath Islamic Boarding School is located near the campus of the State Islamic Institute (IAIN) in Kediri, and it specifically admits female students, the majority of whom are IAIN Kediri students. This study employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach involving a literature review and historical reflection. The study showed that the ethics or moral values observed in the students of Al-Fath Islamic Boarding School share similarities with Plato's ethical teachings. Plato's ethical philosophy emphasizes virtues as its core doctrine, with a focus on how individuals can attain a higher level of virtue through the cultivation of the soul and an understanding of the essence of the world, which is largely a shadow of the world of ideas. The foundation of Plato's ethics is his love for the Supreme Good, which, in the context of this boarding school, refers to God as the ultimate reality. Al-Fath Student Islamic Boarding School has a vision that encompasses morality, knowledge, and active participation in society, with morality or ethics as the primary goal of education, supported by knowledge and an active role in society. Allah, as the God of the universe, serves as the foundation and ultimate goal in achieving happiness through ethical conduct, aligning with Plato's ethical teachings that lead to the Supreme Good.

Abstract

Abstract

This article discusses the Islamic boarding school tradition of the Roudlotul Ta'limil Quran (PPRQ) Islamic Boarding School in the perspective of Herbert Marcuse's critical thinking. The uniqueness of this pesantren is that it not only teaches religious and general sciences, but also teaches skills and sosial interactions with the surrounding community. Since the Pandemic, PPRQ has experienced rapid changes in the culture of pesantren, especially the digitalization process. There is a condition called the condition of the abundance of information that causes the emergence of a one-dimensional society as in the book One-Dimensional Man by Herbert Marcuse. However, Marcuse himself has offers to get out of this situation which is popular with Herbert Marcuse's critical thinking. Herbert Marcuse's concept of critical thinking is applied to PPRQ which states that independence and sosial sensitivity are the main weapons for the war against a one-minded society or a one-dimensional society. Herbert Marcuse offers critical education and aesthetic education to awaken people, in this case the PPRQ students. The existence of PPRQ with all its dynamics as an educational institution as well as a sosial institution that puts forward a critical, creative and innovative attitude will be a representative of critical education and aesthetic education itself. The result of PPRQ education is the emergence of students who are able to make people who hold fast to noble cultures to become their identity. This will be a solution to prevent the occurrence of a uniform global society of one thought that characterizes a one-dimensional society.
