Abstract

Floods can contaminate water sources and damage sanitation systems, including drinking water systems and basic sanitation facilities such as sewers. If hygiene is compromised, the risk of disease transmission, including diarrhea, can increase significantly. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between hygiene status and the incidence of diarrhea in Pasar 3 Tembung Village, Percut Sei Tuan District, Deli Serdang District. This type of research is a research method with a qualitative descriptive research approach, where data collection techniques include observation, interviews and documentation. The conclusion of this study is that flooding can be an important risk factor that increases the incidence of diarrheal disease. Floods often disrupt waterways and sanitation systems, increasing drinking water and environmental pollution. Pollution of water and food waste can cause the spread of diseases such as diarrhea in the community

Abstract

Hospitals are vital health facilities that aim to improve public health by providing high-quality health services. This study aims to evaluate nurses' compliance in using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in hospitals as an effort to prevent nosocomial infections. Through a literature review of various studies between 2021-2024, it was found that nurse compliance was influenced by knowledge, attitudes and availability of PPE. Good knowledge and positive attitudes towards PPE, as well as adequate accessibility of PPE, have been proven to increase nurse compliance. In addition, demographic characteristics such as age, gender, education, and years of service also influence compliance levels. In conclusion, improving compliance requires a multifactorial approach that includes continuing education, adequate facilities, and close supervision. Implementation of this strategy is important to prevent nosocomial infections and improve the quality of health services in hospitals.

Abstract

Work accidents in coconut tree harvesting are a serious problem that affects occupational safety and health in Bahorok District, Indonesia. Using a qualitative approach with a case study design, the research was conducted through interviews and direct observation of five coconut tree growers in coconut plantations owned by local residents. The research results show that a lack of knowledge about work risks, inadequate attitudes towards work safety, and the habit of not using personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly are the main factors causing work accidents. Renderers often ignore the slippery and fragile condition of trees and existing safety procedures, prioritizing work speed over safety. Education regarding work risks, changing attitudes towards the importance of work safety, as well as enforcing rules and using appropriate PPE are very necessary. The implementation of these steps is expected to reduce the accident rate and create a safer and healthier work environment for coconut tree harvesters in Bahorok District.
