Abstract

Babies who experience delays in gross motor development will reduce the baby's creativity in adapting and make it difficult for the baby to recognize the surrounding environment. Growth and development is a continuous process that occurs since conception and continues until adulthood. One of the early steps to accompany child growth and development is carried out through stimulation, namely stimulation to improve infant motor skills with tummy time exercise. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Tummy time exercise on gross motor skills in infants aged 3-6 months. This study used the methoda quasi-experimental with control group design.Data analysis using the Mann Whitney test.Gross motor development is assessed usingDenver Developmental Screening Test (DDST). The results of this study showThe average gross motor development in the intervention group after tummy time exercise for 3 weeks showed faster gross motor development compared to babies in the control group who were not given intervention. While the p value obtained was 0.000. The conclusion of this study is that tummy time exercise has a strong influence on infant motor development. So it can be recommended to give tummy time exercise to babies.

Abstract

This literature review examines the effectiveness of Brain Gym as an intervention to improve children's learning concentration. Brain Gym is a series of physical movements developed to enhance brain function. Several studies in the last decade have suggested that Brain Gym activities can positively influence children's attention span and cognitive performance, particularly in educational settings. Through a review of 20 empirical studies published between 2015 and 2024, this study finds consistent evidence of improved focus and academic engagement among children who participated in regular Brain Gym exercises. The findings suggest that Brain Gym can serve as a complementary approach to conventional teaching strategies, especially for elementary-level learners. Implications for educators and future research are discussed.

Abstract

Hydrotherapy is a stimulation approach that uses water as a therapeutic medium to facilitate infant motor development, hydrostatic pressure, and warm temperature. This community service activity aimed to strengthen the capacity of Posyandu cadres in Gandus Village, Palembang City, by training them to apply hydrotherapy as a practical technique for stimulating infant growth and motor development at the community level. The program employed educational sessions and hands-on demonstrations, covering basic theoretical concepts of hydrotherapy, its developmental benefits for infants aged 6–12 months, and essential safety principles. The findings indicated a marked improvement in the cadres’ knowledge and practical skills, as reflected in increased post-test scores and their ability to independently demonstrate each step of the hydrotherapy procedure according to established guidelines. Participants expressed enthusiasm toward integrating hydrotherapy into routine Posyandu activities, noting that the method was simple, feasible, and well-suited for community settings. Overall, this program successfully enhanced the competence of Posyandu cadres in providing safe and effective motor development stimulation through hydrotherapy. The activity also holds potential to support early detection of developmental delays and to strengthen community-based health promotion efforts focused on improving infant growth and developmental outcomes.

Abstract

Gross motor development is an important aspect of an infant’s growth. Infants aged 6–12 months are in a golden period where physical stimulation plays a vital role in supporting coordination, balance, and muscle strength. Hydrotherapy provides an experience of free movement in water with light resistance, which can strengthen muscles and improve body control. This study aimed to determine the effect of hydrotherapy on the gross motor development of infants aged 6–12 months at Posyandu Dahlia, Palembang City. This research used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest control group involving 30 infants (15 intervention and 15 control). The intervention was conducted twice a week for four weeks in water with temperatures of 36–37°C. The Denver II instrument was used for assessment. Data were analyzed using paired t-tests and independent t-tests with a significance level of 0.05The average gross motor development score increased significantly in the intervention group from 45.2 to 60.4 (p = 0.001), while the control group showed no significant change (p = 0.094). Hydrotherapy has a significant effect on improving the gross motor development of infants aged 6–12 months. Health workers are encouraged to use this therapy as an alternative stimulation for early childhood development in community health centers.
