Abstract

The limitation of wood as a raw material for furniture production has prompted researchers to seek non-wood alternative materials. Among these alternatives, bamboo has been utilized for furniture production. However, the bamboo used is typically in its whole form, which restricts the types and shapes of furniture that can be produced. Using the design thinking method, starting from the empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test stages, the goal of this research was to explore the aesthetic value of a cabinet that can transform from one function to another using processed bamboo material—specifically, vertically laminated bamboo with grooves. Data collection involved initial questionnaires distributed to potential users, interviews with bamboo processing industry practitioners, and a literature review of books, journals, and internet articles. The final outcome of this study is a working drawing and a prototype cabinet made from laminated bamboo material that can transform into a writing desk. Respondent evaluations indicated that the prototype was 71.39% comfortable (Good) and had an average aesthetic rating of 84.125%. Additionally, 33% of respondents expressed interest in purchasing the prototype at the specified price.

Abstract

Abstract: The Manual Drawing Laboratory and Computer Laboratory of the Furniture Design Study Program are some of the infrastructures used to support learning and practicum in the Polytechnic of Furniture Industry and Wood Processing. Services at these two laboratories utilize the Laboratory website which can be accessed publicly via the address https://labdesainfurnitur.poltek-furnitur.ac.id/, in which the purpose of developing the website is to simplify the process for stakeholders to access information regarding practicum activities conducted in the laboratories. Ease of access to this information needs to be evaluated, especially related to usability on the website. The evaluation of the laboratory website's usability is performed using the System Usability Scale (SUS) method, which provides a structured approach to measuring the effectiveness and user experience of the website. It is hoped to obtain a representation of the user's experience of the function and appearance of the laboratory website as advice on what features might be developed to improve the services. According to the results of data processing from 44 respondents, the average SUS score was 59.32. Based on this score, the Acceptability Range category is still in the marginal range, meaning there are still several things that need to be corrected or improved so the website can help in the daily operational activities of the laboratory.            Keywords: laboratory; SUS; usability; user; website  Abstrak: Laboratorium Gambar dan Laboratorium Komputer Program Studi Desain Furnitur merupakan sarana penunjang praktikum di Politeknik Industri Furnitur dan Pengolahan Kayu. Pelayanan pada kedua laboratorium ini telah memanfaatkan website yang dapat diakses secara publik melalui alamat https://labdesainfurnitur.poltek-furnitur.ac.id/, pemanfaatan website bertujuan untuk memudahkan para pengguna dalam memperoleh informasi seputar kegiatan praktikum di laboratorium di setiap waktu. Adanya pemanfaatan teknologi informasi tersebut perlu dievaluasi untuk mengetahui kegunaan website bagi para pengguna serta sebagai masukan untuk pengelola laboratorium dalam mengembangkan website di masa mendatang. Evaluasi website laboratorium dilakukan dengan metode System Usability Scale (SUS). Melalui evaluasi kegunaan pada website laboratorium diharapkan diperoleh representasi pengalaman pengguna terhadap fungsi dan tampilan website laboratorium dan diperoleh saran fitur-fitur yang dapat dikembangkan untuk meningkatkan pelayanan di laboratorium. Data yang diperoleh sebanyak 44 responden menghasilkan skor SUS dengan rata-rata 59,32. Berdasarkan skor tersebut, rentang akseptabilitas website masih berada pada rentang marginal, sehingga masih ada beberapa fitur yang perlu ditingkatkan agar website dapat membantu kegiatan operasional laboratorium sehari-hari. Kata kunci: kegunaan; laboratorium; pengguna; SUS; website

Abstract

Land limitations have increased the trend of limited housing development, based on this, it is necessary to choose the right furniture to support residential activities, one solution is to choose multifunctional furniture. Bench is furniture that is usually used only as a seat, in an era of high interest in multifunctional furniture and design trends that continue to grow, one of which is the Japandi style, a study was conducted that aims to create multifunctional Japandi furniture that combines Japanese minimalist aesthetics and Scandinavian practicality, so that it can optimize limited residential space. This study examines the elements of Japandi design which include the use of natural materials, neutral color palettes, and simple shapes. The multifunctional bench that was designed not only functions as a seat, but is also equipped with storage facilities to increase functionality without sacrificing aesthetic value. The research method uses a quantitative approach by involving respondents in filling out questionnaires, and using the design thinking design method which in its stages starts from empathize, define, ideate, prototype to test. Based on the data that has been processed, this product received a rating of 97.5% (very satisfied) both in terms of function and aesthetics.

Abstract

Furnitur multifungsi adalah furnitur yang mempunyai fungsi lebih dari satu fungsi, sehingga furnitur multifungsi mempunyai nilai lebih dan membuat aktivitas lebih mudah. Furnitur multifungsi dapat digunakan sebagai penunjang kegiatan sehari-hari yang mewadahi beberapa aktivitas sekaligus, sehingga dapat mengoptimalkan penggunaan ruang dan mempermudah aktivitas. Multifunctional learning tower adalah furnitur multifungsi berupa menara dapur yang bisa diubah menjadi meja belajar anak. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah merancang multifunctional learning tower yang dapat digunakan untuk proses pembelajaran sehingga dapat mendorong perkembangan anak usia dini dengan memanfaatkan sisa potongan kayu jati sebagai material utama. Perancangan ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan penyesuaian metode design thinking. Hasil dari perancangan multifunctional learning tower berupa desain produk prototype skala 1:1 dengan mempertimbangkan faktor-faktor seperti fitur keselamatan, kenyamanan, dan fungsi tambahan untuk memastikan furnitur dapat memenuhi kebutuhan spesifik anak dan keluarga. Hasil dari perancangan tersebut menunjukkan 93,3 % responden menyatakan produk multifunctional learning tower dengan pemanfaatan sisa potongan kayu jati dapat diterima dan sudah menunjang aktivitas belajar anak usia dini.
