Abstract

Introduction: The main problem in hypertension management is the attitude or behavior towards the disease which tends to be disobedient in carrying out self-care. With good self-management, the patient's level of awareness in undergoing treatment will increase. Objective: The purpose of this study was to develop a self-management model based on the Health Belief Model theory of self-care behavior at home in hypertensive patients. Methods: This study has 2 stages. The first stage of factor analysis uses an explanatory survey. The samples obtained were 135 patients in Centro Saude Comoro Dili through cluster random sampling. Results and analysis: Overall the results of testing the hypothesis for the new findings in this study can be seen that there is a significant influence of demographic factors (occupation, level of education) on individual beliefs with a statistical T value of 12,440, a significant influence of structural factors (knowledge) on individual beliefs with a statistical T value of 5,078,  a significant effect of individual beliefs on self-management with a statistical T value of 26,815 and the effect of self-management on self-care behavior with a statistical T value of 51,333. The second stage, namely FGD and expert consuls, is used as a basis for developing models and compiling self-management modules for people with hypertension. Conclusion: Demographic and structural factors have an influence on individual beliefs of hypertensive patients and individual beliefs themselves have an influence on self-management and self-care behavior. It is hoped that one of the suggestions from research for community nurses can utilize this module to improve the self-care behavior of hypertensive patients at home.

Abstract

Low coping strategies and health worker factors reduce the ability to survive from flood. This can lead to low mother’s resilience. This study aims to analyze the correlation between health worker factors and coping strategy against mother’s resilience in managing the impact of annual flood disasters during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research used correlational analytic method with cross sectional approach. This study used a sample of 121 mothers in Sukorejo Village, Karangbinangun District, Lamongan Regency who were affected by flood. The research instrument used a questionnaire of support, facilities, and motivation health workers;copingstrategy; and mother’s resilience. Spearman Rho Analysis correlation test was used as analytic approach with a significance of <0.05. The data obtained analyzed using a Spearman Rho correlation test. There was a correlation between health worker factors and mother’s resilience (p=0.003: r=0.264). In addition, there was a correlation between coping strategies and mother’s resilience (p=0.000: r=0.369). The higher health workers factor and mother’s coping strategies level, the higher mother’s resilience managing the flood impact. Capacity building for health workers is needed to be able to educate mothers about flood impact management, so that ultimately improve their coping strategies.

Abstract

Background: Effective communication in healthcare is crucial, and Standardized Nursing Language (SNL) has emerged as a powerful tool to enhance nursing practice and documentation. However, disparities in SNL awareness and knowledge pose challenges to its effective implementation. This systematic review aims to synthesize research on SNL application in nursing practice across diverse settings, utilizing a comprehensive database search and predefined criteria for study selection.   Methods: Comprehensive searches were conducted across databases like PubMed, Scopus, ProQuest, and Web of Science. This systematic review adhered to the updated guidelines provided by PRISMA 2020. Three independent reviewers assessed study eligibility based on predefined criteria, resolving discrepancies through discussion. A narrative synthesis approach categorized and thematically analyzed the data, focusing on SNL's impact in diverse healthcare settings. Data was retrieved after the studies were subjected to quality assessment and risk of biases.   Results: The review included twelve studies spanning various healthcare systems and regions. While SNL demonstrated potential benefits, disparities in awareness, knowledge, and utilization were evident among participants. Challenges such as complex documentation processes and feasibility concerns were raised.   Conclusion: SNL plays a pivotal role in enhancing nursing practice, improving documentation, and facilitating effective communication. Addressing education gaps and providing ongoing training opportunities are essential to overcome implementation challenges. Collaboration among healthcare institutions, educators, and regulatory bodies is crucial to fully leveraging SNL's benefits for better patient care and healthcare outcomes.
