Abstract

The issue of land and its use is still a problem related to the development of an area. Land use and utilization must be adjusted to its function to maintain sustainability and prevent environmental damage. This study aims to determine the direction of the spatial function of forest areas in Pohuwato Regency. The research method used is a tiered quantitative analysis with scoring and overlay analysis techniques. The scoring and weighting guidelines refer to the Minister of Public Works Number 41 regulation of 2007. The thematic maps used in this study are slope maps, rainfall maps, and soil type maps. The results of scoring and overlay analysis show that the direction of the function of the forest area in Pohuwato Regency, namely the area with a protective function has an area of 214866.11 Ha (49.43%), the buffer area has an area of 1511918.76 Ha (34.95%), while the cultivation area has an area of 67887.34 Ha (15.61%). Further studies are needed on the suitability of forest area function directives with land use to ensure proper land use, reduce negative impacts on the environment, and support sustainable development efforts.
