Abstract

This research aims to explore examples of mathematical ideas found in the motifs of Batak Toba ulos fabric used in wedding ceremonies. Despite being derived from dialogues and observations, it was found that geometric principles such as symmetry, transformation, reflection, and repetition are manifested in the creation of Batak Toba ulos fabric for wedding ceremonies. Additionally, mathematical concepts such as straight lines, curves, circles, and polygonal shapes like triangles, squares, stars, hexagons, octagons, pyramids, and parallelograms are also present in the motifs of Batak Toba ulos fabric. This knowledge is crucial to be learned and taught to students as a source in contextual learning. Furthermore, it provides new insights to students about the diverse facets of mathematical knowledge, not just as a formal subject in school. Thus, mathematics learning can commence from real-life situations experienced by students.

Abstract

The development of Technology and Information is running so rapidly. The technology is not only intended to facilitate human work but also intended to facilitate humans in teaching and learning.  One technology that is widely used to help facilitate human work, especially in the field of statistics, is the SPSS (statistical program for social science) application.  The use of this application in learning statistics courses is absolutely necessary to help make it easier for students to process data at the time of completing the final project. This study is an experimental study with a population of all students who contract statistics courses. Based on the results of the data analysis conducted, the numbers 2,98 > 1,97 were obtained (the t-count value is greater than the t-table value).  Based on the results of the analysis, the hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the hypothesis (Ho) is rejected.  Because the t-count value is greater than the t-table, the results of this study can be concluded that there is an influence on utilizing the SPSS application on improving students' skills in processing statistical data.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze self-confidence and anxiety about mathematical problem solving abilities to improve student learning outcomes in SPLDV material for class VIII SMP Negeri 3 Medan. This research is a causal correlation study using quantitative methods. The population of this research is all students of class VIII, with a total of 120 students. The data analysis method used is the path analysis method with the help of SPSS software. The results showed that there was a significant influence between self-confidence and anxiety on problem-solving abilities to improve student learning outcomes in class VIII SPLDV material at SMP Negeri 3 Medan.
