Abstract

Burn injuries are emergencies that pose a severe threat and require immediate action to save lives. The saponins, tannins, alkaloids, and flavonoids in iodine leaf latex gel (Jatropha multifida Linn) are known to speed up the healing process for burn wounds. The research aimed to investigate the effect of iodin leaf latex gel on the recovery of grade II burn wounds in male mice (Mus musculus Linn). The research employed a true-experimental laboratory method with-a-post-test-only control design group at the Kusuma Husada University Laboratory in Surakarta. A total of 24 test mice were manipulated and divided into three groups: the positive control group, the negative control group, and the iodine leaf latex gel group. Burn wounds utilized a 1,5 cm superheated mental surface applied to the backs of the mice for 5-10 seconds to induce burn injuries. The observed parameters included the burn wound area, the percentage of burn wound healing, and the duration of burn wound healing. Data analysis operated One-Way ANOVA. The research revealed that iodine leaf latex gel had a restorative time of 8 days and healing percentage of 30,75%. It was better than the other control groups. The statistical analysis indicated significance (<0,05) in the burn wound recovery percentage. In conclusion, a 6% concentration of iodine leaf latex gel had a more favorable effect on burn wound healing than other control groups.

Abstract

Neuropathy is a common chronic complication in people with diabetes. Neuropathy refers to diseases that affect various types of nerves, including sensory, motor, and autonomic nerves. Diminished foot sensitivity and structural abnormalities may impede the patient's ability to perceive foot injuries, increasing the risk of more serious complications. Foot exercise is an effective method for people with diabetes mellitus to prevent injury and improve blood circulation in the feet. It improves blood circulation, strengthens the small muscles of the foot, and prevents foot deformities. This study aimed to determine the effect of diabetic foot exercises on foot sensitivity and motor deformity in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with neuropathy. Method:This study employed a quantitative method with a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with 35 respondents based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The data were collected through interviews and assessment of sensitivity and foot deformity. Sensitivity was measured using a 10-gram Monofilament Test, while foot deformities were evaluated with a deformity observation sheet. The statistical analysis test revealed that right foot sensitivity obtained a p-value = 0.001 (<0.05) and left foot sensitivity had a p-value = 0.013 (<0.05). The foot deformity signified p-value = 1.000 (>0.05). Diabetic foot exercise has a significant effect on foot sensitivity. However, it did not reveal a significant impact on motor foot deformity in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with neuropathy complications in the Working Area of Puskesmas Gambirsari Surakarta.

Abstract

The contemporary phenomenon of e-cigarette usage has gained traction in society, particularly as a means of transitioning away from traditional tobacco cigarettes. While e-cigarettes are generally perceived as having less detrimental effects on the body, their contents have been linked to various diseases and potential organ dysfunction. Nicotine, a key component of e-cigarettes, can induce addiction and negatively impact the respiratory system, cardiovascular health, and neurological function. The objective of this research was to investigate the potential correlation between electric cigarette usage and pulmonary function in the Pasovati Vape Community in Solo. The research employed quantitative methodology utilizing a cross-sectional design. The study sample consisted of 60 individuals who use vape products, selected through purposive sampling. Data was gathered by administering the PS-ECDI questionnaire and conducting physical examinations using a Peak Flow Meter. The findings revealed that all participants were male, with an average age of 26. Only 32 respondents reported infrequent exercise, and the average duration of vape usage was 4 years. A total of 25 individuals (41%) were identified as heavy users, while 26 (43%) exhibited compromised pulmonary function. Statistical analysis using the Gamma Test yielded a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). Therefore, there was a significant association between e-cigarette or vaporizer usage and diminished lung function among members of the Pasovati Vape Community in Solo.

Abstract

Stroke is a disease that is categorizes as a cause of disability and requires a long treatment for many sufferers, so that what we're needed and complex is to meet the needs of rehabilitation for patients. This study aims to determine the factors related to the knowledge of post-hospitalization stroke patients, including age, education, occupation, gender, nursing experience and sources of information. questionnaire, the number of samples as many as 30 respondents. The data analysis used was the bivariate person test, the Independent t test, the Kruskal Walllist test as a candidate test and the multivariate multiple linear regression test to assess the influenced of the dominant factor. Based on the data analysis, the results obtained that the variables that meet the requirements to continue to do multivariate analysis Linear regression test are education variables with a p value of 0.008, age with a p value of 0.19 and sources of information with a p value of 0.016 (p value < 0, 25). Based on the multivariate data analysis, the linear regression test showed that the education variable has a dominated influence on knowledge with a p value of 0.04 (p value <0.05), with a linear regression equation y = 0.646-0.109 and a coefficient determination (R2 ) 0.350 which means that the education variable contributes to influence knowledge by 35.0% while 65.0% is influenced by other factors. The conclusion in this study is that the education variable is the most dominant variable influencing family knowledge in providing care to stroke patients after hospitalization.
