Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the suitability of the BPKH hajj financing scheme with Sharia financial principles in Medan City. In facing economic complexity and developing values, the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) needs to continue to innovate. The research used a qualitative approach with a focus on Sharia principles, involving analysis of official BPKH documents, financing policies, and in-depth interviews with Hajj pilgrims. Asil shows a strong commitment to the prohibition of usury, with an investment mechanism by Sharia principles. Evaluations from BPKH, MUI, and the Ministry of Religion show support and efforts to increase transparency. Although the majority of Hajj pilgrims are satisfied, there are concerns regarding transparency and distribution of benefits. BPKH leaders stand out as champions of Sharia principles, while Hajj pilgrims' hopes include increased transparency and fair distribution of benefits. In conclusion, the scheme has made positive progress but needs further focus on transparency and distribution of benefits.

Abstract

The concept of property ownership in Islam has unique characteristics, which are in line with human nature. In contrast to the two currently developing concepts, capitalism and communism, neither system has succeeded in bringing individuals or groups into harmony with a social order of life. Individual property rights freedom is the foundation of the concept of capitalism, and the abolition of individual property rights is the main goal of socialism-communism teachings. Because humans are born into the world and do not own any property, the purpose of this paper is to investigate Islam's concept of ownership (the owner of the universe, the role of humans, and who provides everything). This article uses the literature study method, which entails gathering information from various sources, including books and related articles on property ownership in Islam. The findings of this study show that God owns everything in the universe, and humans did not have property in the world at first, but all the gifts that God gave with the guidance to use them as well as possible for the benefit of many people.

Abstract

An Islamic bank is a type of financial institution that operates by Islamic principles and rules and provides various banking services using different types of contracts or agreements that comply with Sharia law. These banks, in terms of Islamic banking, Qardh contracts are one of the most commonly used contracts. This study aims to engage the effect of the kafalah (guarantee or surety) component and the role of loan capital in implementing the qardh concept. Time series data obtained from the Financial Services Authority from 2018 to 2022 is used for this quantitative research. This study used multiple linear regression as the analysis to evaluate the effect. The results show that the Kafalah variable does not significantly impact the Qardh variable. Although the two types of contracts are most commonly used in Islamic banking practices, the main difference between them lies in the way they are implemented and applied. In Islamic bank guarantee products, the contract is known as kafalah. Qardh variables are affected by the loan capital. Qardh contracts do not impose any reward on the borrower of money or the recipient of assets. Due to its nature, the Qardh contract does not aim to generate financial profit; instead, it aims to help small businesses, social causes, and other organizations.
